Make Dorm Wall Art From Toilet Paper Rolls

I never realized just how quickly a household can go through toilet paper until I was responsible for buying my own. That leaves a lot of empty toilet paper rolls, and a lot of waste. Instead of just throwing them out, recycle them! Use them for DIY dorm wall decor that is cheap and will look great in your new dorm room, or even your apartment.

Materials:

  • Toilet paper rolls, and you can also use paper towel rolls. How many you need depends on how big you want your design.
  • Ruler if you want
  • Scissors
  • Glue, glue bun or stapler
  • Laundry pins
  • Paint

First, you want to crush the rolls, which will give them the oval shape.

Cut each roll into equal parts. If you want to be precise you can use a ruler to measure it out, but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Lay them out on a flat surface. This is when you can get creative and make your own design. It’s really up to you how you want it to look. Other people have made mirrors from it, or placed their design in a frame, but it looks just as good on a wall.

Once you have your design all laid out, glue it together! Hold them together with laundry pins while it’s drying so they don’t accidentally come apart.

Before or after you make the design, you can paint it or add any other decoration that you want. The easiest way is to spray paint your design after everything has been glued, but it is also possible to hand paint everything, it will just take a little time to finish.

And it’s finished! The good thing about this is that you can always keep growing it if you want, but just be careful not to overdo it.
