10 Major News Stories Not Related To The Coronavirus That You Probably Didn’t Hear About
The past few weeks, most of the News Stories featured on Television News and in the papers are about the coronavirus pandemic. All of the News Stories about the coronavirus covered by the media range from updates on death tolls; events (sports, concerts, conferences, tournaments, etc.) being cancelled and/or postponed; briefings from the White House; and ; to name a few.
As a result of this heavy coverage on the coronavirus pandemic, there are still major News Stories and events not related to the virus that happened that most people probably haven’t paid attention to or heard about. These major non-coronavirus related News Stories range from sports to celebrity news to pop culture to natural disatto human interest
Now, with that being said, listed below are 10 Major News Stories Not Related To The Coronavirus That You Probably Didn’t Hear About:
1. The Tornado in Arkansas:
Of all the major News Stories featured in this article, News Story #1 is the most recent one to have occurred. On March 28th, 2020, a large tornado ripped through Jonesboro, Arkansas, injuring 22 people and caused plenty of heavy damage around the town. Thousands of residents were left without power and many buildings (including a local mall) suffered heavy damage. Take a look at the extent of the damage that the tornado caused in the photo below.
2. The FBI Uncovered A Bomb Plot On A Hospital:
Another one of several major news stories that would normally be making headlines but didn’t in the wake of the coronavirus also includes The FBI successfully uncovering a bomb plot on a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. The FBI learned the plot through a radicalized US Army soldier, who wanted to launch his own attack on a major American news network and even discussed targeting a Democratic presidential candidate.
On March 23rd, agents from The FBI’s Office in Missouri killed Timothy Wilson, the man who was planning to detonate a car bomb at the hospital during their attempt to arrest him.
3. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness:
On March 20th, 2020, Netflix released another original true crime documentary television series called Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness. The series, which is seven episodes, talks about the life of Joseph Maldonado-Passage aka “Joe Exotic” and his rivalry/feud with Carole Baskin.
Since it’s release, Tiger King has made major headlines in news stories about Entertainment and Pop Culture. Tiger King is the current series that has everyone, including celebrities talking about.
4. This Celebrity’s Encounter With Joe Exotic Before He Became The Tiger King:
As said earlier, Tiger King is the current series that has everyone, including celebrities talking about. One of the more recent news stories about the Netflix Series that people haven’t heard about is Harry Potter Star Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter Films)’s interaction with Joe Exotic years before the latter became known to all of us as the “Tiger King”.
In a reunion via video call with co-star Jason Isaacs (who played Draco’s father Lucius in the Harry Potter Films), Felton recalled his encounter with Joe Exotic, saying: “Weirdly, I did a film a year or so ago [Braking for Whales] where we did a cross country trip and one of the stops was Oklahoma, We filmed in this bar and the owner of the bar was this nutter who walked in with the full-on mullet and the hat and … two guns, I think he had. We were all like, ‘Who the hell is this guy?’ And lo and behold, two years later, he’s got a documentary on Netflix.”
5. The Death of Kenny Rodgers:
This past week, we heard the news stories about celebrities passing away due to suffering from complications of the coronavirus such as Joe Diffie, Mark Blum, and Floyd Cardoz, to name a few.
However, another major celebrity who recently passed away but as a result of having the coronavirus is Musician Kenny Rodgers. The Musician, who’s work spanned across several genres of music, including jazz, folk, country, and pop, died on March 20th, 2020 of natural causes at his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was 81-years-old. Many country singers and other celebrities paid tribute to Rodgers on social media.

7. Tom Brady Signed With The Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
In terms of major News Stories about Sports, perhaps the biggest one was NFL Quarterback Tom Brady signing a two-year deal worth $50 million with The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2020 NFL Season will be the first season since 1999 without Brady on the roster of The New England Patriots.
Believed by many as the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady spent the first 20 years of his NFL Career with The New England Patriots (who drafted him in the 2000 NFL Draft) and led the team to nine Super Bowl Appearances, winning six of them. Brady’s six Super Bowl victories are the most of any player in NFL History.
Brady’s departure from the Patriots to the Buccaneers had all of the sports world talking. The move also made him one of several successful athletes who left their signature teams and finished their storied careers on a different team.
8. Peter Weber Reunites With Kelley Flanagan:
In terms of News Stories pertaining to The Bachelor, the most major one (outside of the reconciliation rumors between Hannah Brown and Tyler Cameron) was Peter Weber, the most recent Bachelor, being spotted hanging out with Kelley Flanagan, who finished fifth on his season of The Bachelor.
9. Malika Haqq Gave Birth:
Malika Haqq, the best friend of Khloe Kardashian who has been featured many times on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, gave birth to her first child, a boy, on March 14th, 2020. Haqq named her new born son Ace and the father is her ex-boyfriend Rapper O.T. Genasis. Both plan on co-parenting Ace together.
10. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Moved To Los Angeles:
There have been many News Stories about Harry’s and Meghan’s departure from their roles as senior members of the British Royal Family. In their initial announcement in January 2020, they revealed that they were going to spilt their time between the United Kingdom and North America and become financially independent.
In North America, the couple, along with their infant son Archie (who turns 1 in May), initially lived in Vancouver Island but have recently moved to Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles. The family is currently living in a secluded compound.
