Lipglosses That Are A MUST HAVE Today
As Vanessa Hudgens once said, “Lipgloss is my calling!”. Even though they’re a struggle to wear with loose hair on a windy day, lipglosses enhance every makeup look. If you’re looking for the right brand to buy, you’re in luck. Here are my recommendations for the best lipglosses, guaranteed to make you shine:
1. Glossier Red Lipgloss
Glossier’s glosses are the Holy Grail of all lip products. I mean, with a name like “Glossier,” you can only expect the best. Out of the four shades they offer (clear, red, silver, and gold), the red definitely takes the cake. I love a good pigmented lipgloss, and Glossier’s does not disappoint. This will complete any dewy makeup look while giving your lips an extra pop of color. Plus, it smells amazing. I don’t know what they put in it, but I can only assume pure magic.
2. BUXOM Lipgloss In “Dolly”
BUXOM’s lipglosses are some of my favorites. As far as I’m concerned, all of them have a plumping feature. Though it’ll tingle your lips for a bit, it won’t blow up your lips to epic proportions. It gives your lips just the right amount of puff without making them look disproportionate. Out of all of the colors they offer, “Dolly” is my go-to. I carry this lipgloss with me wherever I go. It’s pigmented, but the rosy pink shade blends in well with my natural lip color, making it perfect for a natural look. I love the hint of glitter in BUXOM’s lipglosses, though they do offer matte colors, too!
3. Anastasia Lipgloss In “Metallic Rose”
Speaking of shimmer, I’m obsessed with Anastasia’s lipgloss in “Metallic Rose.” This color definitely outshines the previously listed ones, both in terms of pigmentation and sparkle factor. It’s a brighter, Barbie shade of pink, fit for bold, feminine looks. I would wear this to literally every dance I went to in high school. It worked for each occasion, whether it was prom or graduation. Elle Woods would definitely approve of this lipgloss.
4. Burt’s Bees Squeezy Tinted Balms
I’m sure there’s a technical difference between lip balms and lipglosses. For the sake of this list, I’m going to choose to ignore it. The Burt’s Bees Squeezy Tinted Balms are too good to leave out. Since they’re lip balms, they’re incredibly moisturizing while still noticeably pigmented. Like Glossier’s lipglosses, they also smell great. My favorites (both for the scent and color) are “Berry Sorbet” and “Watermelon Rush.” They adjust to any shade of lip and make them feel oh-so smooth. Another bonus: they’re super affordable! You can find them at any drugstore for around $5 each.
5. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer
Whew, what a mouthful. Though I haven’t tried any Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs yet, I’ve heard nothing but praise for them. This particular product comes in four colors: “Hot Chocolit” (a darker shade of brown), “Fenty Glow” (a tannish nude), “FU$$Y” (an amazingly named pink), and “$weet Mouth” (a light coral). Fenty is so highly respected for its inclusive range of shades (for lips and for concealers and foundations), as well as its use of clean, cruelty free ingredients. Rihanna really outdid herself here!
6. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil
Here it is: the viral Dior Lip Oil. Seriously, these lipglosses blew up big time. I have to preface once again by informing you that I’ve never owned one. Sorry! They’re a bit too pricy for me, but if you have your heart set on buying one, don’t let me hold you back. I’ve seen so many people wearing Dior Lip Oil and they all looked stunning. This gloss truly works wonders; it’s more dewy than glittery, similar in texture to the Glossier lipglosses. So simple, yet so beautiful.
7. BUXOM Lipgloss in “Grace”
Coincidentally, it was my friend Grace who got me into BUXOM’s lipglosses. Since I can’t find any pictures of “Grace,” I’ll try to describe it as best as I can. Compared to “Dolly,” “Grace” is more of a darker plum color. It isn’t as shimmery as “Dolly” either, so if you’re looking for a matte gloss, this is the one for you. Like all of BUXOM’s lipglosses, “Grace” feels buttery on your lips (except for when they’re tingling from the plumping effect). I keep this right next to “Dolly” in my purse!
8. Smith’s Rosebud Salve
Again, this isn’t quite a lipgloss. But hey, lip salve is close enough. I’ve had my tube of Smith’s Rosebud Salve for well over five years. It’s probably time for me to throw it away, but I just can’t part with it. Come wintertime, Smith’s Rosebud Salve instantly cures my dry, cracking lips. It’s so nourishing while at the same time colorful. The pink pigmentation stays on for a while, though it’s more subtle than other lipglosses. I can’t recommend this product enough.
9. ColourPop Lipglosses
Literally any lipgloss from ColourPop is one that I recommend. I love the brand: the quality is stellar, especially for how little you pay. I’m pretty sure the amount of lipgloss I own from them exceeds ten. If I were to choose a favorite shade, it would have to be “Beast,” which I inadvertently bought from their Disney collection. I keep repeating the word “buttery,” but there’s no other way to describe this lipgloss. “Creamy” just sounds weird to use in this context. The application is simple, and the color—as the name of the company implies—is popping.
10. NYX Lipglosses in “Tiramisu” and “Angel Food Cake”
If you’re looking for a good drugstore lipgloss, NYX is the way to go. While there are a ton of colors to choose from, I always go for “Tiramisu” (a brownish-pinkish shade) and “Angel Food Cake” (a lighter shade of pink). NYX lipglosses are within the same price range as Burt’s Bees, where they most commonly go for $4-$5. Once you buy one, you’ll want to get them all.
Though lipgloss doesn’t last as long as lipstick (a nod to the famous Gossip Girl line), it’s still superior. Don’t be afraid to add an extra shimmer! Whether you want a neutral makeup look or something fancier, lipgloss is the way to go.
