There are some days you’re in a rush, but you never want to go out into the world in a sloppy-looking outfit. To help you navigate your wardrobe quickly, we have some important tips to help you organize your closet. These pieces of advice are great for using you space optimally and making sure you know where every last piece of your clothing is. Never worry about chosing the right outfit combination thanks to these unique and helplful tips.
Using simple cardboard or paper, you can easily organize your closet into unique sections. All you need is a firm enough material with a hole in it, and you can seperate your wardrobe into different categories. You can easily buy these cute, thematic dividers for your own closet, but for the more artistically inclined, you can make your own and decorate them to your own taste. A simple ring shape or tag do just fine, as long as they are stablely placed on your closet pole.
People often times let their laundry be chaotic and messy, spilling into their room. Remove this burden while effeciently using your closet space by placing a built-in hamper in your closet. That way, all your clothes are in just one area. You never have to worry about something gone missing, since you have just one area for your clothes. You can get nice bins that fit the aesthetic of your closet, so no vibe is thrown off. This tip really helps take out the mess from any room while simultaneously improving the oranization of your closet.
Closets might traditionally be used for the large clothes items you wear, but that is no way to effectively use your space. There are plenty of random items you can find around the house or in stores to help you use some extra space for the smaller clothes you might own. Nice socks, scarves, or glasses can be hung up on shower rings. You might even find a place for your jewelry, just so your accessories all have a safe home in your closet.
While closets might differ in their sizes and dimensions, most closets are much more roomy on the vertical axis. Use this to your advantage. You’ll want your clothes to be hung vertically, so they don’t wrinkle or get clumped. But shoes, jewlery, or other accessories can be placed horizontally– on the top of a drawer or at the bottom of the closet. Take a good look at your closet, and look for the negative space, the space that you aren’t using. Any space can be used for something.
You may have a limited amount of space where you can place the hangers you have access to, which already limits your ability to organize your closet. To rectify this, find ways to use your hangers as effectively as possible. One thrifty option is to take the tabs from soda cans and hook them around the top of a hanger. This allows you to put another hanger while minimizing the space used. Since these hangers are now paired up, you can use this as a way to match outfits you know work well together. While this is effective in saving space, it also helps the organization process for picking out your clothes every day.
Once again, we ask that you take a look at your closet, but this time, look at your drawers. If your drawers are half empty, or even completely empty, that’s a good sign that you have space you can use to further organize your closet. Try rearranging your clothes into the most compact space possible. This way, you can find new uses for your other drawers. Even a drawer one-fourth full can be used effeciently. Just used cardboard boxes to divide your drawers, and that way any empty space becomes immediately obvious. It’s all about finding those small spaces and using them for whatever you can.
For those who find their closets are over stuffed with goods, there is a simple solution. Even if you don’t plan on emptying your closet any time soon, you can use curtains to effectively hide the fact your door might not close. Curtains are simple and aesthetically pleasing, so find ones that match the enviroment of your room and closet. You can also use curtains as another form of divider inside your closet. You can even coordinate their colors to help give a sense of category for each section.
This might be a small tip to help organize your closet, but it can be very convenient. Find an unoccupied surface in your closet and add a mirror, and daily dressing becomes all that much more easy. You can pick your clothes knowing how they will actually look on you, without actually having to leave the closet area. A simple technique, but helpful.
Give your closet a sense of orientation by picking a theme for it. You can organize your clothes by many different categories, like the types of clothes, their color, seasons, or casual to formal. Having your own organization strategy means you should never struggle to find the right piece of clothing, and gives you a solid sense of which clothing articles will work well together. Pick a theme and remember it well, and your closet will never be disorganized again.
Makes use of your space! Any empty area is an opportunity. Even if it’s not necessarily related to your clothing choices, you can use your closet space for plenty of things. Maybe you like to decorate it with your nicnaks or inspirational quotes. You could hang a calendar, schedule, or to-do list. Every last inch matters, so find ways to hang your smaller items, make your closet more artistic, or whatever else you think might work. Experiment, and see what works best for you!
