Top 10 Keto Appetizers
So, you’ve been trying for ages and ages to find a diet that works for you. You remember Weight-watchers back in the day, but it didn’t seem like it was working, so you kept looking. Eventually, you came across keto. Surprisingly, it works! In an effort to eat at least a little bit every day, you want to have a good keto appetizer before every main meal. There are lots of different recipes that you can totally try, but you don’t want to keep changing the appetizer all the time. If there were only a few really good ones that you knew you good, that would be ideal. Well, it’s your lucky day, because this article highlights the 10 amazing keto appetizers that you’re sure to love.
Taco Cups
A keto appetizer that is pretty similar to regular food is a taco cup. It’s basically just a small taco with a little bit of meat, vegetables, and sour cream. While the rest of your family eats tacos that fall apart on their plates, you’ll be munching on these relatively mess free cups. Since you’re planning on putting a little extra effort into your food, the delicious smell of your keto appetizer will bring others to the kitchen, where you will probably yell at them to mind their own business. They can have their greasy tacos while you enjoy your healthy ones.
Pizza Chaffles
You come downstairs in the morning to the sight of your brother making himself a waffle. The syrup’s near at hand, and he looks excited to finally eat. When he’s done with the waffle maker, you immediately head over and began preparing your keto appetizer for the morning: pizza chaffles. You pour the mixture onto the waffle maker while opening the fridge and getting out the bag of pepperoni with your name on it. Glancing at your brother, he seems halfway curious about what you’re doing, although maybe he’s just staring into space (he does that a lot).
Tortilla Chips
There’s a big football game about to start on TV and, while everyone else grabs the bag of tortilla chips, you begin to make your own version, which is actually a keto appetizer. Since you made them at home instead of buying them in a bag from the store, your chips look a little bit different. There are less of them, for one thing, but you don’t need a whole bag to satisfy you. They’re also a bit thicker than the average ones, and have a darker color. You’re sure that everyone can smell them from the living room, but they’re all for you!
Zucchini Tater Tots
A potato isn’t needed to make this keto appetizer. Instead, you’ll be using a couple zucchinis to make these little snacks. As with regular tots, it’s hard to just have one or two, so be sure to make enough to fill a large bowl. After you make them, you can pretty much eat them wherever you want since they’re a very portable snack. Eat them in front of the TV while watching ‘Big Brother’, or stuff a couple in your pocket for later. This last will definitely get everyone’s attention. Don’t make too many, though, or the appetizer will turn into an actual meal.
Avocado Chips
Everybody likes chips, right? They’re, like, the go-to TV snack. The geniuses at the keto factory (or wherever) realize this and have come up with a compromise: avocado chips. A good keto appetizer should try to emulate actual snacks as much as possible so people will be tricked into thinking they’re not on a diet. You’ll be pleased to know that these accomplish this job wonderfully. By the time they’re gone, you’ll be as full as if you ate half a bag of sour cream and onion potato chips. Of course, these will be helping you lose weight, instead of the regular chips, which absolutely do not.
Stuffed Peppers
Hey, you’ve heard of stuffed peppers! They’re that dish that only a couple people eat at your Thanksgiving. Well, guess what? You’re going to join their little exclusive club after eating this keto appetizer for a couple weeks. The usual recipe only makes around six or so, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how filling they are. As you’ve probably guessed, these peppers are stuffed with all manner of tasty deliciousness. After scooping out the interior of all six peppers, and then eating them, odds are you’ll be full for awhile.
Bacon Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks
What? Bacon in a diet? That doesn’t make any sense. You’re a little curious how this can possibly help you, but it’s a keto appetizer, so it’s probably fine. After glancing at the picture, they don’t seem too hard to make. Just unwrap a few sticks of mozzarella and wrap some bacon around them. Boom! You’re done. Well, it’s not quite that simple. You’re forgetting to put them in the oven, where the flavor of both the cheese and the bacon will really come together for a great meal! Try not to eat them too fast, though, or the healthy effects will be reversed.
Cheese Squares
This keto appetizer has you basically make your own cheez-its. Look at you, making your own food that you can easily get from the store! Very impressive. This time-consuming (but not too long) process has you slice off pieces of cheese from a block and throw them on a pan that you’ll put in the oven. Bake them for a bit while checking the latest updates on that TV drama you love so much, and then take them out and dump them in a bowl. After a few weeks of eating a bowl of these cheese squares on the couch with your feet up, you’ll totally start to lose weight. Totally.
Bacon Carrots
Well…you’re not really a big fan of carrots, but you are a fan of bacon, so you suppose you’ll give this keto appetizer a shot. The biggest step in making this dish is to make sure that you have the right kind of carrots. Those baby carrots that you found stuffed in the back of a drawer in the fridge? Yeah, those aren’t the right ones. Run on over to the store and buy some of those long carrots (the ones that people pull out of the ground). Then you can put the bacon around them. If the bacon has trouble staying around the carrots, use some toothpicks to pin them in place.
Creamy Avocado Dip
If you want to get really crazy, then consider having not just one keto appetizer, but two. The avocado dip acts more as a supplement to whatever else you’re eating. If you’re having this appetizer with something like regular salty potato chips, then the effects of the dip will be cancelled out. It’s not something you want to happen. Consider making those avocado chips to dunk in your avocado dip. Too much avocado? No! There’s never too much avocado. That’s lesson 45 in the keto guide.
