What’s better than waking up to a fresh cup of coffee? How about getting a coffee, a snack, a newspaper and a good picture out of it too! Luckily, Burlington, VT has plenty of independently-owned places for all of those things, and good ones too. So get ready because your Instagram is about to get flavorful with these Instagrammable coffee shops in Burlington!
Resembling more a stand in a rainforest rather than a coffee shop, Muddy Water’s wooden interior, potted plants and diverse menu look fabulous on anyone’s feed. Whether you’re there to do work, read or just relax on one of their large, comfortable chairs in the front, you’re going to feel good doing it, and so will your followers! So grab a cup and a pastry (I highly recommend the scones) and take your time with them cause you’ll never want to leave this spectacular downtown coffee shop.
More popular and well-known than Muddy Waters, don’t let the crowds get you down. Uncommon Grounds still carries a relaxed, local atmosphere for hard-workers and chilled-out folks alike. And with a diverse staff, some pretty merchandise and a prettier view of Church Street, the place can be just as enjoyable as some of the more aesthetic-based shops around town. So hurry up and get snapping! (And be sure to get a vegan cupcake while you’re at it; take it from a non-vegan, they’re worth it.)
Don’t be put off by this smallness of this place. the Cosmic Grind has a variety of good options, interesting aesthetics and has all the same capabilities as the other shops downtown. Come here for a quick pit-stop or spend some time staring at the impressive murals; in both the products and the decor, it’s definitely true that this place is out of this world! These coffee shops in Burlington are super unique.
Much like the Cosmic Grind, this place is small but don’t write it off just yet! Its brick interior, silent space and pretty free book-drop spot make it a nice space for photos, coffee and reading. Plus, its location close to the Waterfront makes it a good stop on your way down there. Either way, it’s worth a quick drop in.
University of Vermont students will know this one! This is the same place that provides coffee for the Bailey/Howe Library’s Cyber Cafe. If you’re interested in checking out the store itself, or you’re planning to spend time in Burlington’s South End, it’s a little ways away from the school but it will be worth it. Plants, paintings and fun decor; what more can you ask for?
