10 Important Facts To Know About The Trump Administration

It has been almost two years since Donald Trump was first inaugurated and much has changed in our nation. There has been much controversy about many policies passed under the Trump administration that are sparking much debate. Whether or not it has been made great again, there are a few things you need to know as politicians prepare their platforms for the next election.

Trump is Turning On China

As Trump turns to focus on foreign trade policy he is focusing on bringing manufacturing in-house. Trump has recently passed several tariffs on Chinese trade focusing on aluminum and steel imports to encourage manufacturers to in-source their materials. This isn’t necessarily intended to eliminate import trade but rather to take America out of trade deals where the U.S. is disparaged and stuck paying the bill for other countries.

He May Secure The Supreme Court For The Next Generation

With Justice Kenneth retiring, Trump is gaining another nomination opportunity to place another conservative judge on the court. Trump has recently nominated judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace Justice Kenneth, securing another conservative position for at least another 30 years.

Trump’s Anti-Immigration Policies Are Not New

Many of Trump’s policies are seen as drastic with public scrutiny eyeing every decision. In fact, Trump’s enforcement of family separation is a continuation of Barack Obama’s policies, where in immigrants who have committed a crime—such as illegal immigration—are separated from their children for the protection of said children.

Trump And Abortion

While Trump may target abortion funding, he may be aiming to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision with his new supreme court pick. While the decision may be overturned, the verdict doesn’t actually ban abortion, but gives the states the power to ban abortion and return power to the states. The decision stands as a moderate part of Trump’s platform.

Now Is A Great Time To Be A Business

Trump, as you can imagine, is pro-business, and has enacted several policies that will promote business growth. He has slashed the business tax rate from 35% to 21% allowing businesses to more easily profit and encourage employment growth. While this may, in turn, reduce money allotted to state infrastructure and other necessities Trump feels that with increased employment rates, income tax will make up for the reduced business tax.

He’s Pro-Enforcement

Trump is holding true to his platform by staying tough on crime. Trump has repeatedly backed law enforcement on many occasions; however, he is not ignoring the victims. Trump has reached out to the victims of recent shootings, including families of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting victims.

Looking Out For High School Graduates

Trump has made comments on looking to introduce legislation on ending government profit from student loans. He is also working on enticing new graduates not to go to college, and instead to go towards job training and vocational schools to replenish America’s blue collar workforce. Many students often think college is the way to go; however, there are far more positions made available via skill-dependent jobs.

The Administration Cares About America’s Energy, Not Paris’s

Trump has withdrawn the United States from the Paris Climate Accord much to the chagrin of a hefty part of the nation. Trump cites that the U.S. is footing the bill for other countries as his reasoning for the withdrawal. He has stated time and time again that he’s putting the U.S. first, covering its own bill and not that of other nations.

Trump Is Looking To Lose Some Government Weight

As the Trump Administration looks towards government reform, it is targeting waste. The administration is removing regulations in an effort to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse within all feral agencies. For every regulation passed, the administration is looking to remove an additional two regulations.

Expansion of 2nd Amendment

The Trump Administration is understandably pro-gun and is looking to protect gun owners. One instance of this is the elimination of gun free zones surrounding schools and military bases. This is done in an attempt to protect the individuals attending these instances. This is one of the administration’s attempts to reduce events such as the Fort Hood Shooting or school shootings.

While there is much more that the Trump Administration has done and will continue to pass, the legislation attempts to put America first in any policy. While this list does not completely summarize the Trump Administration, the best thing one can do is their own research. It gives a clear view into our governing body as it approaches the second half of its governing.
