Pamper nights often get put on the back bench when you’re a student. After all, between studying and nights out, there’s not a lot of time to slow down and just chill out. But girl’s pamper nights in are some of the greatest joys in life and are just the thing you need to rejuvenate amongst a crazy university schedule. So, gather all your friends together and don’t miss out on any of these key activities needed for having the perfect evening in.
Girl’s night would not be complete unless you were all wearing your comfiest clothes so you must not forget your pyjamas. Bring some fluffy dressing gowns and slippers too and set up your sofa with duvets, cushions, pillows and anything else that will have you feeling cosy.
If pyjamas and pillows are not enough for you, bring along teddy bears and cuddly toys. Sure, we’re technically all adults now, but everyone has a teddy bear somewhere in their dorm room and there’s no better time than a pamper night to get it out.
Baking can be a therapeutic task when you’re doing it alone, but with friends it is just a bit of a laugh. At some point in your pamper evening you’ll definitely want a sweet treat so it’s a good idea to prepare that first before you’ve all settled down. You can go all out and bake a proper cake or just use a ready mix if you want to save time (it might not be truly homemade but they taste pretty good). Cookies are also a good option because who doesn’t love snacking on cookie dough while they wait for everything to cook?
While your house is filling with the delicious smells of baking, you’ll probably start to feel hungry. Sounds like it’s time to order yourselves a pizza! Yes, we know, cake and pizza doesn’t make for the healthiest dinner but on pamper night, all diets go out the window.
If you’re on a budget and takeaway pizza is too expensive, then make your own. You can buy a plain base, choose your own ingredients and put them together yourselves for another fun kitchen-based activity with friends. Oh, and don’t forget the garlic bread!
Now that you’ve got dinner sorted, it’s time to pour some drinks. As it’s girl’s pamper night, you’ve got to treat yourselves. Wine or rose is the perfect place to start, or, if you want something different, try pink gin. Not only does it taste great but it will also look great on snapchat with the pink colour perfectly embracing girl’s night.
When you’re settled down with food and wrapped up in pyjamas and duvets, it’s time to switch on a movie. Chick flicks are an obvious option but pamper nights are also a great time to get nostalgic and switch on an old favourite. Whether that’s High School Musical, Mean Girls or Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, reliving your old favourites that you used to watch at sleepovers with your friends is the best way to spend time. It also helps if you’ve seen the movie before so that you don’t have to pay too much attention and can gossip over it all evening.
Now that you’re settled down with a movie and food, it’s time to get those facemasks on. There are plenty of options out there, but the best choice is a charcoal peel mask. Yes, that’s right, those masks that were going viral a year ago because of how difficult they are to take off. We don’t know whether they’re any better for your skin than a regular mask but there’s nothing like shared trauma to form close bonds and these masks are definitely a funny (if not slightly painful) experience that everyone should try at least once.
While your facemask is drying, you should also look after your nails. It’s time to start on pedicures! No pamper night is complete without nail varnish, so get out the nail files and make a start. If you’re not the sort of person to go all out for glitter and nail art then tonight is the perfect opportunity to give it a go. Maybe you even have a secretly talented friend who can do them for you.
You’ve probably not made friendship bracelets since you were younger but after a few drinks it can be a really fun activity. Making something to take away at the end of the night can be great for making memories and be a nice reminder to wear on your wrist. This is an especially good idea if one of your friends is going away for a while, you’re in your final year of uni or a friend has come to visit you at uni from out of town.
When it comes to making memories (and if you’re not crafty enough to make friendship bracelets), taking photos on pamper night is a great idea. It’s not just about showing off your new nails and facemasks on snapchat (although you should do plenty of that too), you should also take polaroids or print off the photos later to hang up in your room. There’s something much more personal about photos taken when you’re messing around and having a night in with your friends than the more posed pics you take on a night out.
You’re already in your pyjamas and surely getting your beauty sleep is a must-do activity for pamper evening. So, why not turn your girl’s evening into a sleepover? Gossiping until midnight and playing snog, marry avoid until you fall asleep is the best part of a sleepover and a great way to end pamper night.
