Iconic Grammy Red Carpet Looks Over The Past Decade

Grammy red carpet looks can range from the exquisitely elegant to the otherworldly odd. Over the past decade, we have seen some red carpet looks that grabbed our attention so much they have become immortal. Here are a few red carpet looks from the past decade that we simply cannot forget.

Lady Gaga (2010)

Wearing Giorgio Armani Prive, Lady Gaga shined amongst the various other 2010 Grammy red carpet looks. From head to toe, her look was uniquely ethereal, reminiscent of the twists, turns, and sparkles of space. Her bright yellow hair only added to the appearance, glowing like the sun. And props to her for being able to walk in those shoes! They added a staggering amount of height, and their base was far narrower than her foot length.

Katy Perry (2011)

Katy Perry looked angelic wearing Giorgio Armani at the 2011 Grammys. Her feathered wings, Swarovski crystal covered top, and sheer shimmery high wasted wrap skirt with a long train made her soar over many of the other red carpet looks. Her outfit fit her curves perfectly and revealed some flesh here and there, calling to mind an image of a goddess. Combined with her dark hair falling in loose ringlets around her shoulders, Katy was an image to behold.

Rihanna (2011)

Rihanna made a great decision when she wore a very sheer and very flattering Jean Paul Gaultier gown at the 2011 Grammys. The gown was very risky, as the only substantive materials covering her were horizontal bands of white fluffy ruffles. The ruffles were thicker at her shoulders, waist, and feet, and rather thin everywhere else. The shape of the gown was what helped the look trump other red carpet looks, as it had a classic off the shoulder form fitting design, only flaring out from her calves down.

Nicki Minaj (2012)

Nicki Minaj has rocked some unusual red carpet looks, but the one she wore to the 2012 Grammys was the cream of the controversial crop. Escorted by a man dressed as the Pope, Nicki sported a red bedazzled Versace hooded cloak that resembled a nun’s habit. She remained somber for her red carpet photos, staying in character. Why she needed a character for the Grammys is not certain, but she definitely got a lot of attention from this bold choice.

Adele (2013)

Wearing a beautiful knee-length Valentino dress, Adele was among the top of the list of red carpet looks at the 2013 Grammys. The shape of her dress was modest, simple, timeless, and very flattering. The base of her dress was black and sleeveless, but it was covered with a gorgeous long sleeved lace shell filled with antique flowers in varying shades of red. Her shoes were of a similar pattern, making this a jaw-dropping head to toe floral hit.

Rihanna (2015)

The choice to wear a very big and very pink Giambattista Valli gown at the 2015 Grammys was not Rihanna’s best choice, but it helped her stand out from the other red carpet looks. Many would call the shade of the gown “Pepto Bismol pink”, which is usually not a preferred color comparison. Her gown was tight around her bust, then sprawled out in all directions in two tiers of light-weight ruffles. Though it was probably fun to twirl in, the gown was just a bit too much.

Maddie Ziegler & Sia (2015)

The custom Armani Prive suits and matching white wigs Maddie Ziegler and Sia wore at the 2015 Grammys were show stopping. No other red carpet looks could compare to the unusual style of these two. The unique androgynous suits and oversized wigs paired with the choice to match one another made them eerily captivating. Individually, they looked great, but together, they were unbelievable.

Taylor Swift (2016)

Color blocking can make a statement, and Taylor Swift definitely made one in a two piece Versace gown at the 2016 Grammys. The top was a simple bright orange band around her bust, but the skirt was a gorgeous hot pink high wasted curtain that graced the ground and parted in the front, fully revealing her long legs. Her look was topped off with a bob haircut with bangs, making her look quite posh and helping her sail above the other red carpet looks.

Lady Gaga (2017)

Lady Gaga has worn some interesting things over the years, and 2017 was definitely a year she outshined most red carpet looks at the Grammys. Wearing a custom outfit a dominatrix would envy by Chrome Hearts and thigh high boots by Vex Clothing, Gaga was merciless in her barely there look. Most of her torso and chest were bare, but her arms and neck were covered with spike-like black material. The look was completed with a pair of fishnets and some Aviator shades to let everyone know she meant business.

Pink (2018)

Fringe or feathers or maybe both, Pink’s Armani Prive gown she wore at the 2018 Grammys was a colorful and fun choice that made her one of the top red carpet looks. Some loved the pink, purple, black, and blue floor length straight cut belted hairy gown, while others found it appalling. Whatever the opinion, one thing is certain: it grabbed a lot of attention. Pink had short simple bleached blonde hair, which helped her dress pop even more.

Cardi B (2019)

Though there were several red carpet looks worth noting, Cardi B took the show when she showed up at the 2019 Grammys wearing a vintage Mugler design. Composed of a shimmery opaque body suit and a tight black skirt that opened and spread into a cathedral clam shell design at the top, Cardi B looked like a Hollywood star from decades past. Her neck, waist, and hair were coated in pearls, her hair being styled in a uniquely sophisticated up-do. To complete this classy look, she wore gloves that came up above her elbows.
