Iconic Celebrity Fashion Moments From The Past Decade
Celebrities are always in the spotlight, whether it’s at award shows or just walking passed the paparazzi, making fashion an imperative aspect to their self image. Here are some of the most Iconic Celebrity Fashion Moments From The Past Decade that any fashion lover can appreciate!
1. Kendall Jenner’s recreation of Paris Hilton’s 21st Birthday Dress
I think everyone by now has seen this iconic silver sparkly mini dress worn by the one and only fashion icon Paris Hilton. Paris rocked this Julien Macdonald chain swoop dress during her 21st Birthday Party at the Stork Rooms in Swallow Street on May 3, 2002 in London. Paris recently recreated this look, but Kendall also paid tribute to the iconic dress for her own 21st birthday celebration in 2016. Kendall’s version of the dress was designed by Antoine Salameh under his brand LaBourjoisie, appearing as a custom made sparkly mesh dress similar to Hilton’s. The dress was covered head to toe in Swarovski crystals, retailing for about $9,000. Kendall looked beyond stunning as she turned 21, posting an Instagram with the caption “Vintage Paris Hilton vibes. 21 21.”
2. Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress
Out of all the most famous celebrities out there, Lady Gaga is not one to be shy when dressing to impress her loyal fanbase and those around her. Gaga has always been one to wear crazy, over the top looks, especially in the early years when her career was truly taking off. Since then, Gaga has toned it down a bit when it comes to using unconventional materials to make wild dresses, reminding me of her iconic meat dress. Gaga wore this frequently talked about dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The Franc Fernandez number was fully made of raw meat, making it a controversial fashion moment at the time for some. However, Gaga intended on making a political statement with the meat dress paired with meat wedges and a meat hair piece. She wanted to reference a speech she made for The Prime Rib of America, which urged the US military not to discriminate against gay men and lesbians from serving in the army. The meat dress will forever remain an iconic celebrity fashion moment, still talked about to this day.
3. Zendaya’s Academy Awards Dress
Zendaya is another celeb who is no stranger to rocking iconic celebrity fashion, with some of the most stunning red carpet moments I’ve seen. Zendaya is such a natural beauty, so it really isn’t hard for her to pull off anything she puts on. One of my favorite red carpet looks was this beautiful white Vivienne Westwood dress she turned heads in at the 87th Academy Awards back in 2015. The silky, off the shoulder gown fit incredibly well, with Zendaya looking both classy and sexy at the same time. She paired the dress with some pearl dangle earrings and a few other minimal accessories.
4. Harry Styles’ 2021 Grammy Awards Suit
When it comes to celebrity men, Harry Styles is a no brainer for iconic celebrity fashion moments that come to mind. Harry has had a number of amazing looks, showing that he doesn’t care about gender norms in fashion and encourages his fans to wear whatever they want, which we love. During the 2021 Grammy Awards, Styles rocked this iconic fit as he opened the awards performing his award-winning song “Watermelon Sugar.” The custom made suit was designed by Gucci and featured a leather single-breasted shape and a light green faux fur boa.
5. Machine Gun Kelly & Megan Fox 2021 VMAs Red Carpet Looks
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have become the “it” couple of 2021, always looking amazing wherever they go. One of my favorite looks from them was at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards. Megan wore a stunning sheer nude dress with a sparkly design on top and a matching glitter bikini underneath the dress. MGK added to the sparkle element with his glittery red suit by Dolce & Gabbana, making them the hottest couple at the event.
6. Kim Kardashian’s 2019 Met Gala Dress
Kim Kardashian is a fashion legend, but one of my favorite looks of hers was the 2019 Met Gala dress. The theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion, and Kim didn’t come to play. Some critics thought her look wasn’t necessarily described as camp, but I found this look to be very beautiful and glamourous. The well known celebrity showed up in a Thierry Mugler, skin tight nude gown that accentuated her incredible figure with a tight fitted waist and beaded element.
7. Rihanna’s 2014 CFDA Awards Dress
Another beautiful gown that showed off the body was Rihanna’s 2014 CDFA Awards Dress. This bare-all number was designed by Adam Selman and featured a see through sparkly design showing off her incredible curves. She paired the look with a furry boa, see through gloves that matched the dress, and a sparkly cap. Rihanna said her one regret from this look was not wearing underwear that was also bedazzled.
8. Lil Nas X’s 2020 Grammys Fit
Lil Nas X is another male celebrity that has no problem switching up gender norms in fashion and looking amazing when he does it. At the 2020 Grammys he sported this hot pink Versace number with a matching cow boy hat. This was right when his career was truly beginning with his release of “Old Town Road” which received two Grammys for best music video and best pop duo/group performance.
9. Lupita Nyong’o 2014 Academy Awards Gown
The iconic beauty Lupita Nyong’o has many talked about fashion moments, but one unforgettable piece was her 2014 Academy Awards gown. Lupita stunned the audience in her sky blue gown designed from Prada with a Fred Leighton headband and jewelry to match. Tis dress may have been on the more simple side compared to other celebrity fashion moments, but that does not take away from the stunning neckline and pleated skirt element that fashion critics everywhere obsessed over.
