Fall is a time for playing in the leaves and picking apples. But what to do with all those apples you pick? You don’t want them to go to waste, so here are twelve ways to use all those apples you picked.
Apple pie. A classic. You can never go wrong with this delicious fall favorite dessert. Apple pie is such an ideal after-dinner dessert, with its soft, flaky buttery crust, and it’s warm filling. Topped with whip cream it’s seriously the perfect dessert. There are so many apple pie recipes out there so here are a few for you to try:
Maybe the apple pie feels pretty humdrum, and something you’ve already thought of yourself, otherwise why would be googling new ways to use up all those apples? Why not try these warm, fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside apple fritters? They make delicious snacks, desserts, are great for kids and parties!

Nothing like cooking up some sweet homemade applesauce on the stove and serving it hot over top of potato pancakes for breakfast. Here is a homemade applesauce recipe to try this fall:
Similar to applesauce, but apple butter works great as a spread on toast, bagels, or baguettes. Apple butter is also really decadent when spread over cream cheese for a delicious, refreshing breakfast. A number of recipes for apple butter exist, so here are some to get you going in the right direction:
If you’re feeling saucy try this fireball apple butter barbecue sauce. Really kick things up a couple of notches. Fireball Apple Butter BBQ Sauce WOW
My grandma has long made apples with red hot tamale candies on the stove, that brings about a comforting, cinnamon smell throughout the house and has my mouthwatering. I like to eat a bowl full of red hot, cinnamon apples as is, but topping them with whip cream or cool whip is also delicious. While I don’t have my grandma’s recipe on hand, here are some other red hot apples you could try:
Another sweet treat many of us look forward to in the fall or caramel or candy apples. Instead of dipping whole apples in your caramel, slice the apples, before pushing them through a stick so they’re much easier to eat than that whole apple covered in hardened caramel that makes you worried you’ll break your teeth with the first bite. Also consider other toppings like a chocolate sauce, topped with walnuts, sprinkles and coconut shreds. Making candy apples should be just as fun to make as they’re to eat.
Everyone has their own way of making caramel apples but here is a recipe to get you started: Caramel Apple Recipe
As well as a candied apple recipe.
And of course, some of us (like myself) prefer chocolate to caramel: Chocolate Dipped Apples.
If you’re hosting a Halloween party its the perfect time to bust out some caramel apples. You could also give your guests a scare with these wicked black poison toffee apples.
Apple muffins work wonderfully as breakfast, snack or dessert and they’re probably healthier than some of the items we’ve listed. Made with walnuts they’re hearty and tasty and served best hot with butter.
And when you’re feeling extra autumnal here is an apple pumpkin muffin recipe because why not? Pumpkin Apple Muffins
Dessert first and dinner second apparently as I almost overlooked this delectable way to use apples in a salad. A chicken, pecan salad with chopped apples is so delicious and makes for a great side with your dinner or as your entire meal. There are also ways to organize this recipe so I’ll list both options.

Coleslaw has always been a picnic favorite, and because its a salad, you can put whatever you want in it-there are no rules here!
The crumbly part of the crumble has always been my favorite but it wouldn’t be as good as it is if it weren’t for the delectable, fresh and cooked to perfection apples paired with it. Apple crumble has always tasted more nostalgic to me than apple pie, something about it just harks me back to childhood, and maybe it does for you too.
Maybe you really love apples and want to put applesauce overtop of apple pancakes instead of potato pancakes. Or maybe you’re going to skip the applesauce altogether and just combine everything into one pancake. These can be eaten sweet or savory.
Okay as a former fan of Toaster Strudels (before my lactose intolerance kicked in), we can all agree that homemade apple strudels are as far better than the frozen thing (even though those were pretty good). There is nothing better than a homemade baked good, fresh out of the oven, piping hot and filled with ooey-gooey cinnamon-y apple-y goodness! There’s just nothing like it.
