How To Throw The Best Galentine’s Party For You And Your Besties

So many people out there have mixed feelings about celebrating Valentine’s Day. Whether you are super single and dread the fact of celebrating the holiday alone, or are just not a fan of this ‘Hallmark holiday,’ skip Valentine’s Day this year and celebrate Galentine’s Day instead! Galentine’s day is a special holiday started by Leslie Knope (a fictional character from Parks and Recreation), which is on February 13 each year, and dedicated to celebrating all of the amazing women in your life. From your besties, sisters, aunts, cousins, mom and grandma, this holiday is all about celebrating all of the lovely ladies in your life! Don’t let this year fly by without celebrating this special holiday. Follow these 8 steps to make sure you throw the best Galentine’s Day party for you and your girls, that even Leslie Knope would approve of!

1. Send party invitations to all your guests

You can’t throw a party without sending out party invitations! Instead of taking the easy way out and sending text messages about the party, make some invitations isntead. You can get artsy and make some DIY invites, check online for free printable invites, or even get some invites made on Etsy. Just make sure that the invites are super pink, glittery, and girly, and filled with lots of hearts to fit in the Galentine’s Day theme!

2. Decorate your house

Now for the fun! Decorate your house with as much Galentine’s inspired-DIY decorations as you possibly can. Some decoration ideas include: balloons, paper heart garland chandelier, string art hearts, flower arrangements, place cards, pink table settings, and a Photo Booth backdrop. Make sure that all of the decorations are pink, red, and extra sparkly to fit into the theme!

3. Treat yourself and your girls

Treat yourself and your besties with some Galentine’s inspired drinks! Get some rosé, champagne and wine to share amongst you and your friends. Find some cute Galentine’s Day-inspired glasses to pour the drinks in to fit the theme of the day. Let your friends bring the glasses home as one of the party favors, too!

4. Plan party activities and entertainment

No party is complete without activities and entertainment! If you are planning a day party, create a craft corner and spend the day DIY-ing your hearts out by making Galentine’s Day crafts. Blast some music and sing along with your friends too! You can also have a spa day where you get your nails done, facials, and massages. If you are having a traditional sleepover, pull out all of the famous chick flicks and Netflix shows to binge watch all night long!

5. Prepare a delicious lunch or dinner to serve

Your guests are going to come hungry and ready to eat, so make sure you have the food ready to go! Plan a meal full of delicious finger foods, like mini heart shaped pizzas, sandwiches, salads, tacos, or even chicken nuggets. You can even have a themed menu, like breakfast foods, Italian food, or a fiesta. Plan the meals based off of your favorite comfort foods!

6. Bake lots of desserts

The most important part of the part is obviously the desserts! Don’t leave your guests empty handed without serving them some delicious, Galentine’s Day inspired desserts. The desserts have to be heart shaped to fit the theme! You can make heart shaped brownies, cupcakes, ice cream sundaes, truffles, cheesecake, and so much more. Create a buffet of desserts and have it out all night long for you and your friends to enjoy!

7. Don’t forget party favors

Don’t let your besties leave the party empty handed! Give them a DIY gift that they will actually want to keep around, like a jewelry box, a flowerpot, or a wine glass. You can even get creative and make little gift boxes filled with candy and other small treats your friends can enjoy. Be sure to give them a dessert or two to take home, too!

8. Take lots of pictures!

Make sure that you create a space that is dedicated to taking pictures! You can either set up a backdrop for a photo wall or bring in a photo booth for the party. Take a million photos in the photo booth with fun props and accessories so that you have plenty of Insta-worthy pics to remember from the night! Post them on Insta to make everyone jealous of your perfect Galentine’s Day celebration!
