How To Survive Your First Trip With Your New Bae

There are lots of firsts that happen in a relationship, one of them being the first trip that you take with your new significant other. On this first couples trip, the good, the bad, and the ugly are revealed from spending so much time together on this trip and you will definitely learn a lot about each other! Here are some tips and tricks on how to survive your first couples trip with your new bae!

Settle On Where You Both Want to Travel

This one might be obvious but discuss and talk about where you both want to travel to. You might be more of a beach kind of girl, but your partner might love the mountains instead. Are you going to drive to your destination or are you going to fly? Get this out of the way and even plan for other trips to come if you don’t get to go exactly where you want.

Regardless of where you decide to travel to, the most important thing is that you are able to spend time with your person! Even if the mountains are not appealing or fun to you, you will find a way to have fun and make tons of memories with your partner on the trip!

Discuss the Finances of the Trip

Depending on the nature of your relationship, this is an important discussion to have before you even get in the car or on the plane. If you are a traditionalist, you might expect or be used to your partner paying for everything. Before this first couples trip, at least offer to pay your end of the hotel room, airfare (if applicable), and other expenses like gas and food.

Don’t go in with expectations that everything will be taken care of regardless if your bae likes to pay for everything. It will be very thoughtful and kind for you to offer first at the beginning of the discussions! If you and your partner operate on a 50/50 basis, then you can proceed with this couples trip as usual and continue to enjoy the trip and the memories!

Share Your Expectations for the Trip

Now that the couples trip is planned, the hotel room is booked, and the airplane is reserved, it’s time to think about what you both want to do on your first couples’ trip. If you know what you want to do on the couples trip such as shopping at a particular store or getting coffee every morning, then sit down and tell your partner this!

Just like in the other parts of your relationship, there is no way for your partner to read your mind and know what you are thinking. Tell your partner what you would like and then move forward from here! Be courteous and caring about your partner’s expectations too, even if it is stuff that you don’t want to do. Enjoy your alone time!

Have Some Alone Time

During this couples trip, it will probably be the first time that you are spending multiple days in a row with your partner and completely uninterrupted. This is a great thing and you will be both be closer than ever because of it! But with this uninterrupted time will come with little things that will annoy you and the potential for stupid fights.

To help prevent this and other things that can happen from spending time like this, have some alone time! Take a walk on the hotel treadmill or get up a little earlier than your partner to sit by the pool. Anything that you want that you can have some time for yourself and so can your partner. You will both be better for it, in the end, to help your relationship and your time together!

Expect Some Awkwardness

This might be one of the first times that you both are alone in this sort of way, things might be awkward! Maybe it’s the weird way that your partner talks in his sleep or that you like to hog the blankets during the night. Your partner might just find out that you get super cranky without a cup of coffee in the morning or that you are afraid of the dark.

Despite how awkward you might feel in this situation, things aren’t like this forever! Soon you will both be comfortable with each other and all of these things will feel like nothing! For sure do not let these things get in the ways of having a good time with your partner and making memories.

Plan Something Special

Go the extra mile and get some brownie points with your partner by planning something special for you and your partner. Maybe you make reservations at a local restaurant for one of the nights that you are out of town. Surprise your partner with a few extra thoughtful touches and a fancy outfit, and you have yourself a date night!

Make sure that you are keeping notes on what your partner wanted to do when you were discussing your expectations for the couples trip. They would be so surprised if you were to plan out what they were wanting to do and made some extra time for what they wanted to do. On this couples trip, try to think about your partner rather than everything that you want to do on this trip.

Take a Deep Breath, Girl!

The last tip, but the most important thing to know is that you should not let any of this uncertainty take over the time that you are going to get with your partner. The busyness of life and relationships takes up so much time that these trips are important for you and your partner to catch up and grow closer as a couple! Don’t let the silly and stupid things get in the way of your memories, so take a deep breath, girl!
