How To Successfully Plan A Trip

Summertime means vacation time! Well, for some of course.

We find ourselves wanting to travel here, there, well everywhere; but, do we know how to go about this? When you plan a trip, what is your first step?

No worries, you don’t have to answer that because I have just the guide for you to successfully plan a trip.

1. Destination Education

The first step in planning a trip is to decide when and where you want to travel.

What type of experience would you like to have? Touristy? Fully immersive? A dab of both?

Don’t fret. The world is full of many destinations that will fit many of your travel needs.

When searching for the next town to hitch your tent, it is important to consider the government, economy, prominent religions, and any tensions affecting the area of travel.

When traveling to a new state or foreign country, one must be aware of current situations within the country in order to arrive better prepared.

This is mainly due to the fact that when traveling you are expected to abide by the rules of that state or foreign country.

For instance, during Journeys, when Agnes Scott sends the Freshman to foreign immersive experiences around the world, we were prepped on many of the basic laws.

We also learned the history of the country as we were required to participate in a class directed at teaching us about the history of our destinations.

The TSA website is best for determining the threat level of a country and should be used as an advisory for travel.

Ignorance is no excuse for breaking a law.

So do your research. After, let’s find some attractions to give us a better roadmap of your trip.

Time for some excitement!

2. Friends Who Mend

Planning a trip can be hectic but when you have multiple friends working towards the same goal everything is more at ease.

It is important to choose the right friends to take on an adventure with you. Taking that friends who tend to always get in some sort of trouble does not seem like the best idea.

Also, that “friend” that you know steals but you guys don’t talk about it at all, yeah, maybe let them enjoy the comfort of their own homes.

You don’t want to bring two friends that just can’t seem to see eye to eye.

By now, you’ve thought of all the people who would possibly bump heads. That’s good, you get the idea now.

Whoever you bring along on this trip should be those who you can truly have fun with. They play well with others and are trustworthy.

When traveling outside of your comfort zone, only take people who have your trust and visa versa.

When you plan a trip, rest on the belief that the best experiences are with those friends that invite multiple smiles throughout the day.

3. Attraction Distractions

You’re not traveling to watch the view from your hotel balcony for the whole trip, so when you plan a trip make sure you are near a few hotspots.

With every cool city, there is an enormous amount of things within it to occupy your time with.

Ideally, your hotel will be in close proximity to many of the attractions. This is to reduce your travel time while on vacation. The longest time you want to spend traveling is the way there and the way back.

If you know someone from your chosen destination ask them what’s fun to do there. Hearing it from a native provides the attraction with more legitimacy.

Now if you decide to take some friends along there is bound to be some differentiation in the types of attractions you will want to visit.

This is why many of the touristy cities are very popular because they have something for everyone.

So while planning your trip, makes sure your hotel is in an area close to a lot of attractions. Though it does tend to be more expensive.

4. Transportation  Exploration

So, to plan a trip you also need to actually get there.

How will you get there? Car? Plane? Bus?

However you decide to travel to your destination, make sure to book a round trip.

Also, be sensible, maybe driving halfway across the country in a packed car isn’t the best idea.

A good rule of thumb is to travel up to 10 hours by car and beyond that, take a plane.
This reduces the amount of time you have to spend away from home and work; besides, driving for long distances is tiring. Then, there is the issue of gas.

This also leads us to our next point.

5. Travel Deals And So Much More

The worst thing about traveling to these luxurious cities and foreign havens is the amount of money you have to dish out for them.

There are a lot of places you can travel where you won’t be spending an arm and a leg.

Though, either way, I have just the thing for you.

Find travel deals.

Many travel deals will include hotel and transportation; but, some will also include group activities which is a cheaper route to take.

Another option could be to simply go on a cruise. You will have the pleasure of being out on the sea and visiting various destinations. The best part is that your food is already paid for.

By far, this is the cheapest vacation option I have entertained.

6. Make Sure Your Bills Are Handled

Unlesss you are well off, let’s not leave for vacation on a whim. Your bills are important. So after you come back from your trip you will come back as if nothing has changed.

You’ll come back to your job in good standing because you told them well in advance.

Do everything in a timely matter.

Learning to successfully plan a trip is essential to having fun and saving money at the same time. It is important to take a break from the regular scheduling of your life every now and then.

So pull out your laptop, get together with your trusted friends, search for some travel packages and let your boss know.

Where will you be headed this summer?
