The holidays are full of fun and good times, and a lot of great food. The winter weather is also not doing us any benefits by making us want to stay in the house and be warm and comfortable. Accompanied by the vacation time, it allows us to put health on the back burner because it is often associated with work. Whatever you relate to it can some times make it difficult to stay trim during this time. Here are a few quick things to ensure that you stay trim into the new year.
Even though during the holidays it is easier to indulge in many tasty treats or meals that are far more appetizing than vegetables. Vegetables will provide you the nutrients that you need to help you stay trim during the holiday season. It will help to full you up sooner and limit your chances to want to eat the foods that will cause you to gain weight. Some great vegetables to keep you in the holiday mood and to stay trim are mustard greens, turnip greens, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, and potatoes (white and sweet).
If you are a person that has a sweet tooth and become easily tempted during the holidays. Fruit can be used to curve the desires of sweeties. Just like vegetables, it will help keep you full. According to Natural Doctor, it helps protect your body from the cold weather. The cold weather tires the heart and reduces the body’s defenses. Fruit can give your cardiac system a boost helping you keep moving, so you have what you need to stay trim during the holiday season. Give your body the nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins. It will support you in everything that you need to do to stay healthy and fit. Some fruit that you can consider eating are oranges, apples, kiwi, pomegranates, and bananas are just a few fruits that can provide your body the support it needs in the winter.
It is easy when you have more free time to think that you can put off your routine, but it will cause you more issues later. If you keep your routine it means that you do not have to spend so much time trying to get back on the routine once it is time to go back to work. When you end your routine you are setting yourself to putting on some extra pounds during the holidays. If being trim is important to you than you might as well stick to the routine.
If during the holidays, you do not have time to go to the gym. Then you can do some really quick exercises to stay trim. You can do some standing lunges in your home. It does not take up much space or time, but the exercises will help keep your legs strong. You can try and do as many as you can in 1 minute and rest for a few seconds and do 3 more reps. Planks are good for strengthening your core. All you have to do is rest on your arms while your body is in a push-up stance. Try to hold this position for at least a minute. If you are not used to doing these, a minute will feel like a long time. But hang in there. Once you have done the set just rest for a few seconds and go up again for another 3 reps. Next, you can do some crunches whichever ones that you prefer (standard or bicycle). Do as many as you can do in a minute and then rest for a few seconds and do another 3 reps. Finally, take a brisk walk around your neighborhood for 30 minutes to give you some cardio. If you are a runner then you can run around the neighborhood it is entirely up to you. Then you will be all set for the day without going to the gym.
P.S. There are also several other exercises that you can do at home, but these are just a few to get you thinking.
Maybe you are a person that just prefers to go to the gym. If that is the case, you can also partner up with someone else who is interested in staying trim during the holiday seasons. The accountability partner will help you stay on track with your exercise routine. When you are choosing a person make sure they are going to be able to commit. We do not want you to start going backward in your journey because you were not fully supported. If you can not find a person that is in the same town as you, you can also do a phone call with a person as a way to kind of check-in. It will ensure you are doing what you need to do to stay trim during the holidays.
I do not have to tell you how important your health is, you most likely know that already. It takes motivation to do the things that you rather not do, but believe me, your health is the one thing that you are going to need to pull you into the holidays to come with your family. Tap into your will power and do everything that you can possibly do to stay trim during the holiday. You can do it!
