“It could always be worse”, these are words that your mom probably told you when you were younger. And in the moment you just want to tell her that there is no way that it can get worse. But let’s get serious here, it can get worse. Life is hard and can be very stressful at times, I am not trying to say that it’s not. But there are so many things that we have that others have only ever dreamed of. So here are some tips on how to stay calm when life happens.
It’s not easy when the crap hits the fan, your workload triples and everything seems to be falling apart around you, but you must calm down. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and sit in silence, and count backward from 10. Stop moving. Stop speaking frantically and jumping all over the place. Just stop. Taking a moment to calm yourself down makes all the difference in how you’ll handle (and tackle) the situation that you’re facing. This is one of the best tips on how to stay calm when life happens!
“I can’t handle this. This always happens to me. Everything is awful and life sucks.” Words that every angry and frustrated person has said at one point or another
You know the thought patterns because they are your “go to” in these types of situations. If you automatically throw your hands in the air when things start to not go the way you had planned then you are never going to get anywhere. Things will never change. You will always be stressed and miserable.
Whatever the issue is, in order to tackle it successfully you need to be in the moment. Get out of your head. When you get stuck in your head, you’re will overthink things, listen to that negative voice and fail to move forward in a good and positive direction.
Breathe. Shut out the negativity. Be present.
The first step is to focus on the task at hand, make the call you have to make or send the email you have to send. Focus on one thing at a time and you will instantly eliminate the overwhelming feeling. You will also manage to tackle your task with ease and grace, and before you know it you’ll be on to the next thing.
Just be present and in the moment. By doing this you will be able to get through your troubles gracefully.
This can be an annoying thing to hear when you are at the end of your rope and your life feels like it’s falling apart, but you have to trust that everything will be okay in the end. Think about the last time everything seemed to fall apart in your life… are you still here? Still breathing and living your life? Are you, at this moment, okay? The answer is yes, you are. And no matter what happens to you, you will still be okay, life will continue on and things will fall into place exactly as they’re supposed to. The universe has a plan for you and you need to trust it. Everything will be ok in the end. It may take a while for everything to smooth out, but you need to trust that it will. This is one of the best tips on how to stay calm when life get’s too chaotic.
Ask for help when you need to. This is a hard thing to do; to ask others to help you with your problems. But it can help you in ways that you wouldn’t normally think of. They will give you an outside view of the problem that you are immersed in, and they can give you new ideas to help you tackle it. Many people view asking for help as being weak, but it is just the opposite of that. It is a huge sign of strength, admitting that you can’t do it all alone. So when you need to, ask for help.
