How To Save Money On Coffee Everyday

I am definitely one to say that I always used to spend a ton of money on coffee. You never realize how quickly it adds up until you actually glance at your bank account and you’re in shock. But, it’s so hard to not want a cup of coffee in the morning, right? At least, it always seems that it will taste better or be more refreshing if you buy it first thing in the morning, rather than making it at home. Well, the truth is those $3-$8.00 coffees and lattes can totally add up and you can save way more money by not visiting Dunkin’ or Starbucks constantly. And, you can learn how to become creative at home while making your own coffee. Here’s how to save money on coffee everyday!

Buy A Coffee Machine

It doesn’t have to be an espresso machine or a Keurig, (although they are super nice and will last you a long time)you can find coffee machines for under $40. What’s great about coffee machines is that you can buy as many bags of coffee that you want and obviously save money on coffee everyday. There are a ton of quality brands of coffee beans that are already ground up, or you can stick with your signature blonde roast bag from Starbucks. You can make your coffee, put it in the fridge, and have iced coffee for the next morning. Or, you can buy a reusable mug, and make yourself some hot coffee with your favorite milk or creamer. While it may only seem like you’re spending $4.00 on a hot coffee, buying one everyday can save you $28 a week, which is $84 a month, which is also – money you can save, that will eventually add up for something more memorable! Making a one time purchase of a coffee maker, and then a bag of coffee, sugar, creamer or milk can save you money in the long run, and time in the morning so you don’t have to wait in line or a drive through at a coffee shop.

Bottled Ice Coffee

If you go to any grocery store, or even Target – you will find bottles of cold brew, flavored ice coffee, and regular, unsweetened cold coffee. Spending $10.00 or less on 48 fluid ounces of Starbucks, Stok or Califia Farms coffee can save you so much money everyday! You can buy a reusable travel cup, such as one with a reusable straw (highly recommend any reusable travel mug or water bottle from the brand Bubba) and make your coffee in just a couple minutes before you head to work or out for the day. Buy a big bottle of what ever type of ice coffee you like, and then find a creamer or milk you like. There are so many great dairy free options for creamers and milks (one of the best is a Milkadamia, macadamia milk that adds some sweetness to your iced coffee). Or, you can always do a yummy, flavored creamer to make it feel like you’re really getting your regular coffee order in the morning. What’s great about using a reusable mug or travel water bottle for coffee, is that you don’t have to worry about adding a lot of ice so it stays cold all day, you can use minimal ice since the bottle itself will make sure the coffee doesn’t get warm or watered down throughout the day!

Make Buying Coffee A Treat

While we may not all have espresso machines, it still seems like a lot to spend over $5.00 on lattes and macchiatos everyday. Instead, make buying coffee at a local coffee shop or what ever place you like the most for your morning beverage a treat, or something to look forward to. Having coffee with a friend at a cute coffee shop, or splurging on your favorite type of coffee can make drinking it feel a lot more special. If you buy a coffee machine, or start to finally use the one that has been sitting on your kitchen counter, and use it everyday, it can be fun once in a while to spend money on coffee, sit down and enjoy it. But, it’s when you make it a habit everyday, or a few times a week that it can add up slowly without even noticing it.

Make Iced Lattes At Home

Often times, it seems like the coffees we look forward to the most are ones that maybe we think they are too difficult to make at home or we are not sure exactly how to do it. But truth is, making a simple iced latte at home can be fast, quick and taste delicious while saving you money everyday. All you need for an iced latte is espresso, milk and yes, ice. They’re easy to make – what you need to start is a reusable mug, mason jar, or something you can shake your latte in. This way once you add your espresso, milk and ice, all you will need to do is shake it, and then drink your latte. You will need espresso powder, or you could use instant espresso such as Cafe Bustelo. One great brand of coffee and espresso powder is Illy. You will need to add about 1 teaspoon of espresso, or two depending on how strong you want your latte – then about 6-8 ounces of milk depending on how creamy or strong you want your latte to taste. Then, add a little bit of ice and shake it up. Add sugar, simple syrup, or any flavored syrups that are used at coffee shops if you want to – and you’ll have a homemade latte in no time. If you enjoy hot lattes more, now is the time to steam some milk, and try to get creative with the latte art if you have an espresso machine at home!
