How To Resist The Urge From Your Sweet Tooth

If you are like me and have a bit of a sweet tooth, particularly around a certain time of the month, you know how dangerous it can be giving in to the sweet tooth urge. There are a few things you can substitute in order to satisfy your cravings without throwing your healthy lifestyle completely out of the window.

Fruit

A quick and easy way to satisfy your sweet cravings without the guilt is to cut up a variety of your favourite fruits. The more colourful the better. Spoon any nut butter of your choice, almond or peanut, or if you want to take it one step further, consider a chocolate spread such as Nutella. This will add that little bit of decadence to your dessert that will make it feel as though you are eating a proper dessert.  Try this option next time you are craving something sweet but don’t want the guilt.

Protein Bar

If you have them handy, reach for a protein bar next time you want something sweet, and particularly chocolatey. Try and keep a couple in the cupboard for those spur of the moment chocolate cravings. There are a number of various protein bars on the market that have chocolate in them that are still relatively healthy. The great thing about protein bars is that due to the high level of protein you will feel super full as well. You will be full and your sweet tooth will be satisfied. You won’t have to feel guilty after this sweet treat.

Frozen Yoghurt

If you are an ice cream addict, consider swapping out your night time ice cream dessert for frozen yoghurt. You can make it super easily yourself, and it’s beyond healthy. All you need for your frozen yoghurt is natural greek yoghurt, a dash of honey and frozen fruit of your choice. Super healthy and delicious! This my personal fav way to resist your urge from your sweet tooth. Perfect for the warmer months! You will never turn to ice cream or store bough frozen yoghurt again. This will be your new go to frozen sweet treat. You can get creative with this one and come up with a number of different combos with your fruit and flavours. You will not only impress yourself, but you will impress anyone that your surprise with this treat.

Apple Nachos

This one is a little less conventional, but if you want something really cool, less common but super exciting try some apple nachos. Slice up some raw apples and drizzle on any nut butter, or caramel sauce. Next sprinkle on any fun little snacks that will add some crunch and extra flavour. Think nuts, granola, anything that is healthy and super yummy. This snack is super yummy and will keep you coming back for more. This should definitely be your go to next time you are craving something sweet.

Fruit Leather

Want to relive your childhood snack days, try out some fruit leather. Blend together your fav fruit, strain out any seed and lumps, smooth it onto a cookie sheet and pop them in the oven to dehydrate. This is your new, healthy version of a fruit roll up! Enjoy!
