Anxiety is something that can get the best of even the most calm and serene people, its more common than not and is something that can be combatted with even the simplest of things, like a change in diet. Now, I’m not saying that changing your eating patterns is a quick and easy fix to end all anxiety but in some cases, switching things up ca, definitely improve levels of anxiety in some people. There are quite a few foods that can absolutely increase stress and anxiety but here are a few that can help you feel a little less anxious.
White meat includes an amino acid called tryptophan that is said to have a positive effect on stress and can actually help your brain produce ‘feel-good’ chemicals. That said, adding some chicken or turkey every few days into your meal plan might be a good idea to help reduce levels of stress and anxiety. Think about Christmas dinner when everyone seems to be in a Turkey coma, that is caused by the amino acid releasing levels of serotonin and essentially making everyone calm and happy.
Bananas also carry levels of the amino acid, tryptophan which means that snacking on a potassium filled banana can make you a happier person. A banana a day could keep the anxiety away, or lower it anyways.
Drinking herbal teas is known to be a calming agent and help even the most jittery people relax a little. Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, mix up a hot mug of chamomile and feel your body relax with each sip. Also, the teas will not make you sleepy, and studies suggest a positive effect on stress relief and anxiety.
Peanut butter is filled with fibre and nutrients that help you improve health and essentially feel better about yourself, resulting in an easier fight against anxiety. Our favourite nutty butter also contains substances, like a chemical for the brain that stabilize a person’s mood.
