How To Prepare Your Home For Fall This Year
Fall is coming up fast. There are so many ways that you can decorate for fall, whether you want to celebrate individual holidays, like Halloween or Thanksgiving, or if you want your home to have the warm autumn glow all season long. Here are some of the must-have fall decor for your home this year.
1. Pumpkins
Pumpkins and Gourds are a staple of the fall season. Decorating your home with pumpkins, and funny-looking gourds is a good way to bring the fall season into your home. You can use pumpkins to line the walkway to your door, you can use miniature pumpkins to decorate indoors and on tables, you can place them on ledges, the possibilities are endless. Pumpkins are a staple for Halloween and Thanksgiving, so they’re a must-have in your home.
2. Doormat
A doormat is the first and last thing that people see when entering or leaving your home, so it’s important to have a nice, welcoming doormat. Doormats can be changed throughout the year for different seasons so it would be fun to get a doormat just for the fall! Doormats are important because besides just having people clean their feet before coming in, they also go the extra mile to give your home a fall ambiance before anyone even steps inside.
3. Coffee Station
Having a place where you can make your own pumpkin spice lattes and other flavored drinks is a must. You can set up a cute little coffee bar station where you can display your drink options, coffee mugs, and more. As a bonus, you can get holiday-themed coffee mugs to put out as well. Plus, this adds a level of sophistication when guests come over and can use your coffee station with ease!
4. A Wreath
Another good outdoor accessory would be a wreath! Like a doormat, a wreath is seen before anyone even enters your house, making it all the more important. It also adds a level of sophistication to your home that many younger people forget about. Wreaths can be put up for every holiday and season, rotated year-round. While many people only put a wreath on the door for Christmas, wreaths for other holidays are just as classic.
5. Red Wine
Red wine is a necessity in the fall and something you should always have in your house. People enjoy red wine in the fall because of its festivity and flavor. While you don’t necessarily have to like red wine yourself, it’s a good thing to keep in the house throughout the fall. Having a bottle around for guests is always a good idea. Red wine can also be used in decorative ways if you have a bar cart of a visible wine rack!
6. Scented Candles
Don’t you want your home to smell like fall too? Decorations, while important, are even better when accompanied by scented candles. Scented candles make your home feel more like a home and less like a house. You can use scented candles to bring a cozier and more welcoming atmosphere to your home. Some fall scents include cinnamon, vanilla, apple, and more. Plus, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your house smelling like a bakery.
7. Decorative Sign
If you want your decorations to go over the top, a sign that says “Happy Halloween” or “Give Thanks” is perfect to add to your home. Signs are also one of the more classic and chic decorations that you can find. You can find a sign to fit your home, whether your home is more rustic, boho-chic, or modern, you can find decorations that will blend in well. Signs can be used yearly so make sure that you find one that you like!
8. Cornucopia
A cornucopia is one of those horn-shaped baskets that often are used as an accent piece for a table or ledge. They are filled with things like pumpkins, apples, grapes, flowers, and leaves. A cornucopia might seem like a weird thing to decorate your home with since it has no true purpose, but they are a staple of the season and can add a classic touch to any dining table. Filling it with fake fruit and flowers will also preserve it for years to come so that you can reuse it again and again.
9. Apples
Apples are the fruit of the fall season. Apple picking, apple cider, apple cinnamon pastries and more all take over throughout fall. Therefore, having apples or a basket of apples in your home is a great way to decorate your home for the fall season. Plus, you get to eat them anyways! You can also offer them to guests that come and go. While they might look weird, they’re definitely a must-have if you want to go all out on your fall decorations.
10. Halloween Decorations
Halloween is not just for kids, and its decorations often go overlooked. While everyone celebrates and decorates for Thanksgiving, it’s important not to forget Halloween. Not all decorations have to be spooky either if you’re not into that, but many Halloween decorations can be fun, even classy! If you’re looking for inspiration, head over to Pinterest, but I highly recommend that this holiday doesn’t go overlooked in the decoration department.
11. Homemade Decorations
Homemade decorations are so much fun, and they make your house look so much better. People and guests can tell when your decorations are homemade, and it adds a level of thought and appreciation to the effort that goes into your decorations. If you’re not that crafty, not to worry! Doing things as simple as painting your pumpkins will do the trick. People appreciate homemade decorations, and it shows that you put a level of care into your home that others might not. Plus, homemade decorations can also make good gifts to give to your friends! There are so many different crafts that you can try, heck even putting a painted hand-turkey on your fridge will make your home feel so much warmer.
Fall is such a fun season to decorate for! Decorating for the fall is all about making your home feel cozy and warm, the ambiance is everything. So when you begin decorating, make sure you choose things that are going to make you happy!
