As the days start getting warmer and the sun glows in the sky, the thought of going outside to enjoy the weather becomes more and more exciting. A great place to go to enjoy the wonderful summer weather while getting lots of great views from Mother Nature is a national park. There are so many across the United States, and all of them are spectacularly beautiful. Going to a national park is a great way to enjoy nature and really become appreciative of our planet. Here, I have made a few tips to help you prepare for a trip to a national park!
This might be the most important step. Without a destination, there is no trip! There are so many national parks in the United States that the possibilities are endless! However, the decision has to be made. Each and every one is beautiful beyond compare, so pick somewhere close to home, or somewhere far away! You could visit Yosemite and then take a day trip to San Francisco, or go to the Grand Canyon and drive to Las Vegas! There are so many options that you can make your trip customized to what you want and how you want it!
When you go to a national park you walk a lot. When you walk a lot, you put a strain on your feet. It’s very important to be wearing good, comfortable shoes during your hikes so prevent any foot pain or uncomfort, so that you can fully enjoy your experience! I recommend getting a good pair of sports sandals. Shoes like Chacos will give you support while also allowing you to walk through various terrain without having to change shoes. If you have no way around walking through a puddle you won’t have to worry, as they are made to be used in water. You won’t have to worry about rocks cutting your feet because you can walk around on them in bodies of water! With shoes like these, you will be traveling lighter and without any worry!
It’s always good to plan ahead, and when it comes to national parks, it’s the best thing that you can do for yourself. Most parks have many different trails, each taking you to different parts of the park. Sometimes, you might not have time to visit all of the sights, so you need to decide which sights you want to see before getting there, and then you can figure out which trails will take you there! You might find that you even have time to visit more than you thought!
Even if you have everything planned down to where you will stop and eat a snack, stopping at the visitors center before taking off can be a great idea! They know this park better than the internet and might be able to supply you with some tips and tricks to help make your trip the best that it could possibly be!
Be sure to really soak it in! Take pictures on your phone and show off to social media, but don’t forget to really see where you are and enjoy it! It’s not every day that you visit a national park or see the beauty of nature the way that you will during your trip. Enjoy every second of it!
