How To Make Your Foundation Last All Day
One of the many issues that comes with wearing makeup for a long period of time is having your foundation wear off throughout the day. Trust me, I’ve been there. I look in the mirror after an eight hour shift and cringe at how worn down my face looks. All those little cracks near the corner of my nose and smile lines are my worst enemy, and before trying these hacks, it was something I dreaded every single day. That’s when I decided to go out of my way to find out what I could do about this. And after some research, I can confidently say that I’ve found out how to make my foundation last all day long! Here are some tips and hacks that you can try to make your foundation last!
Primer
Primer is yet another product that I live by. Not only does it smooth our your face before applying foundation, it makes it stay on your face all day long. Primers are designed to keep your makeup intact and prevent your foundation from moving from where it’s supposed to be. And fortunately for everyone with different skin types, there are plenty of primers out there to choose from, such as ones that help with tone-controlling, blemish control, oil-control, and ones that help keep your face hydrated! But regardless of what kind of primer you get, it will still help your foundation stay where it is supposed to: on your face!
Setting Powder
If you are looking to make your foundation last, and you haven’t tried this product, then you need to. Setting powder really is a life-saver. Setting powder is designed to mattify and minimize pores and fine lines. It is also where the saying, “I’m going to go powder my nose,” comes from. While applying it all over your face after putting on your foundation will help make it stay in place all day long, you can even invest in getting a mini setting powder to put in your purse. That way, if you see your skin start to become a little oily, pack on some powder and you will look good as new!
Mix Your Foundation With Setting Spray
While setting spray itself is also a great way to make your foundation last, mixing it in with your foundation is just as amazing and has great results. All you need to do is spritz a little into the amount of foundation you have chosen to apply to your face and there you go! Doing that in addition to also giving your face a nice spritz of spray after all of your makeup is done will do your foundation wonders. This hack is not only easy, but has great results! Give a try and you won’t be disappointed!
Shave Your Face
While no one can tell you what to do with your body hair, if you truly have tried all the hacks above and you still find your foundation not lasting as long as you would like, try taking away some of that cute peach fuzz! The results will blow you away and make you reconsider shaving every once and awhile. That, and you will find out just how soft and smooth your skin will be afterward, which makes a great pallet to apply foundation to!
Use An Oil-Free Foundation
This hack was something that should been obvious to me from the beginning. Using an oil-free foundation will help if you (big surprise) have a lot of oil build on your skin throughout the day. Oil-free foundations are just great for your skin in general and reduces those annoying little pimples that you find pop up on your face after a long day of wearing your makeup.
Avoid Touching The Face
This tip might also be obvious, but it is something that I always fail to do. I rest my cheek on my hand a lot, and throughout the day I notice that the foundation and makeup there start to look a little less vibrant compared to the other side of the my face where I haven’t touched it at all. If you do the same thing, do your best to keep your hands off your face to make your foundation last all day long.
Carry Blotting Paper
While it may not be possible to make your foundation stay perfect throughout the whole day, you can come pretty close by carrying some blotting paper in your bag. If you see yourself starting to get a bit oily, just apply some blotting paper and you should be all set for the rest of the day! Blotting paper is also a great way to reduce sweating if you happen to find yourself moving around a lot throughout the day or just live in a hot area.
Exfoliate Your Face
Exfoliating your face is another great hack to make your foundation last all day. Exfoliating helps get rid of those dead skin cells that your foundation can cling to. Not only is exfoliating your face good for making your foundation last, it will also give your skin that nice and refreshing feeling you get after you take a shower and will do your face absolute wonders! There are plenty of exfoliating scrubs out there that will suit everyone’s skin needs, just make sure you don’t use it every single night! That can do your skin more harm than good, and you will find your skin looking far more dry than you would prefer it.
