In this age of social media it’s easy to dream about the life online influencers live that lets them make money by blogging and posting on their stories all day. But it isn’t all fun and games. Running a successful blog is strategic hard work and if you’re serious about being an influencer and making money off of your blog you have to be willing to give 100% of you to your brand. Here’s How To Make Money By Running A Blog.
The first step to sculpting your online persona through a blog is to find your niche. A niche is essentially the topic of your blog. It could be fashion, makeup, travel, etc. Your niche is what sets your apart from all of the other online blogs and will in the long run help you make money through brand deals.
Try picking a more specific niche, at least in the beginning so that you can establish a groundwork of readers. For example, instead of just fashion, you could choose a niche that focuses on thrifted fashion, or plus size fashion. Set yourself apart.
As much as society tells you not to judge a book by it’s cover, there is something called first impressions, and that’s a very real concept. First impressions don’t just apply to people your meet, they also apply to the content we take in on the internet. Advertisers are not going to want to work with a platform that doesnt offer an aesthetic theme or a website that isn’t easily functional.
In the end the advertisers and brand deals are what’s gonna help you make money.
We share our lives on social media, every second of every day. Through posts, stories, and now even live streams. You’re going to have to share your blog content on those platforms too. Your followers are going to be your first established fanbase and its important to consistently sharing your knew content with them. Don’t always share it in the same way so as not to seem obnoxious.
It also a good idea to create a social media page that reflects your blogs niche. Keep every account consistent so that your fanbase grows in width across platforms as well. Brans endorsements that can be gained on social media platforms can also be used later on to make money on your blog posts.
Besides social media sharing, you’re also going to want to formally advertise your content. Luckily this can now be done on your social media platforms. All you have to do is change your account type to a business one. This will allow brands to directly email your for partnerships and you’ll be able to track your followers and their interests.
This option also allows you to advertise. You pay a small fee and Intstagram will spit out your image to thousands of accounts that could potentially be interested in what your blog has to offer. Facebook has an even more accurate advertisement program. There are tons of tutorials on Youtube that explain how to properly use these features.
If you’re truly serious about wanting to make money of your content you can’t treat your blog and influencer life as a side hustle. It has to be just as important and relevant to you as your day job. Treat them equally. Although it won’t pay in the beginning it’ll eventually begin to pay off (literally) and you’ll notice yourself feeling more fulfilled. And then eventually you’ll be able to quit that pesky 9 to 5 and join the influencers working from paradise, or if you want, just your bed.
Just remember throughout this journey, be yourself, stay humble, and don’t forget who are are.
