How To Make Frozen Hot Chocolate
Have you ever been to New York City’s famous sweet shop Serendipity? Yeah, neither have I. I have heard of their world-famous frozen hot chocolate, though. In fact, I have considered making the trip to NYC just for this frozen treat on more than one occasion. Since that is insane, I found a frozen hot chocolate recipe that you can make right at home instead! Keep reading to learn how to make it.
Ingredients:
- 3 ounces chocolate (milk, semisweet or dark), finely chopped
- 4½ teaspoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons Ovaltine
- 1½ cups milk, divided
- 3 cups ice
- First, you’re going to place the chocolate in a medium bowl and set it over a saucepan with about 1 inch of barely simmering water (keep the heat on low). Next, stir the chocolate occasionally, until it is completely melted and smooth. Add in your sugar and Ovaltine, and whisk to combine them completely. Remove this mixture from the heat and slowly whisk in ½ cup of your milk until smooth. Allow this to cool to room temperature.
- After this, place the remaining 1 cup of milk, the chocolate mixture, and the ice in a blender. Blend this on high speed, until smooth and slushy. Pour into your favorite glasses and top each one with whipped cream and chocolate shavings!
And that’s it! So easy, right? This recipes makes about 2 to 3 large servings, so grab a couple friends and fire up the blender. Enjoy!
Thank you to Michelle from the Brown Eyed Baker for the fab recipe and photos!
