Summer is almost here, and that means some unforgettable days are on their way. However, you need to take good care of your skin so that your unforgettable memories are good ones, and not ones of burnt, damaged, and unhealthy skin. The sun can cause some pretty serious damage, so you have to be sure that you are taking the right steps to avoid that altogether. Here are eight tips to help you keep your skin looking great this summer!
Sunscreen is the most important tip that I have for you, which is why it is the first tip. Sun damage is no joke, and it can not only damage your skin, but it can also cause spots and wrinkles in the long run. Don’t forget that when your skin burns, it is painful! Sunscreen helps to prevent burn and wrinkles, so I recommend you put on sunscreen every day, even if it is only on your face. Look for a sunscreen that has high SPF, protection against UVA as well as UVB rays, and is waterproof if you will be swimming or sweating.
Water is an important part of skincare all throughout the year, but especially in the summer. You will be out in the hot sun, sweating, but water will help replenish that, and it will make your skin glow. Dehydrated skin can also cause eye bags and wrinkles, as it loses elasticity.
In the morning, at night, or in the afternoon, moisturize your skin so that it retains moisture. If you are putting on moisturizer in the morning, try one that is lighter and has SPF. This way, your face is not drying out, and you are getting sun protection!
Face masks are good for all kinds of things, and since we are doing all different kinds of activities during the summertime, a good face mask can help to make your skin withstand it all.
The variety of delicious fruit that is in season during the summer is part of what makes summer so great! You can cool off by biting into a peach or a watermelon, and not only are they delicious, but they are great for your skin as well!
Don’t forget that not only can your skin burn, but your lips can too. Be sure to take good care of them by buying chapstick that has SPF of at least 30 and applying it about every two hours to ensure that your lips retain moisture.
Your eyes can also be hurt by the sun, as well as the skin around them. Wearing sunglasses can prevent any damage from occurring to your eyes, as well as allowing the blockage to the skin around them, as that skin is the thinnest on your face, making it the weakest as well. This means it can be easily damaged.
While a nice, hot shower might feel very nice, a nice cold shower will do wonders for your skin. Plus, it will also feel great after being in the hot sun all day! A cold shower boosts circulation, tightens up your skin, and it closes your pores (do I hear minimizing breakouts?), whereas hot water can cause the skin to become more sensitive as it strips the skin of some of the natural oil which helps to protect it.
