How To Integrate Your Favorite Musician’s Style Into Your Own
Style is incredibly personal. It’s based on our own attitudes, our own likes and dislikes, and our own inspirations. But that’s not to suggest that our style isn’t also influenced by what trends we see and who we see rocking said trends. Because of social media, it’s easier than ever to stay caught up with our favorite fashion icons. And there are so many fashion favorites to choose from: Billie Eilish, Tay Swift, Lizzo, Halsey, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves, and Beyonce. All these women are not only talented musically, but they bring the fashion game. They all have signature looks that they wear with confidence. So how can we integrate these women’s style into our own lookbook?
Billie Eilish
There’s no use in denying that Billie Eilish’s fashion sense is a little crazy. Her fashion is loud, boyish, and extremely colorful. But it works wonderfully for her. Could I go on a Target run dressed in a neon green ski mask and a Powerpuff Girls utility vest? Probably not. But Billie can. She owes her style, and with her lime green roots and her graffiti-laden outfits, how can you miss her? If you’re like the rest of the world and are obsessed with Billie and want to emulate her style, try to integrate lots of color into your wardrobe. And not just red or blue. Try wearing bright yellows and greens. Eilish also wears a lot of white, beige, and black, but these outfits always feature loud prints like Sailor Moon or brand logos. Billie also wears a lot of accessories: chunky chain necklaces, colored sunglasses, and shoes in every color. Speaking of color, Billie always has colored hair. Whether it’s blue, purple, or black with green roots, her hair is as loud as her style. So: lots of color, chunky jewelry, and brand names.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift’s style has progressed over the last decade, but she’s always maintained an ultra-feminine look filled with sweaters, skirts, and every shade of pink imaginable. Lately, with the release of her newest album, it seems like Taylor has honed in her signature look. While Taylor isn’t overtly sexy, she understands the balance between class and showing a little ass. She has model-esque long legs that she highlights with short dresses and even shorter skirts and shorts. Taylor transitions flawlessly from a ’50s-styled pin up to an edgy Girl Boss in head-to-toe sequins. Not to mention her pink tips that she’s rocked in her promos for her new album. So how can we incorporate Tay’s signature looks into our own lookbooks? Both pink and floral patterns are flirty and feminine which Taylor loves. She seems to rarely wear jewelry, but when she does, it’s subtle: a simple gold necklace or diamond studs. If you’re brave enough, try some sequins. An outfit is always a little bit better with glitter.

Lizzo
Lizzo is here, and she’s making waves. Whether she’s twerking while playing the flute or preaching about body positivity, Lizzo is not afraid to be herself. With the changes that are taking place in the world of body image, Lizzo is leading the pack. She doesn’t give any F*&%s about societal pressures, because she knows she looks damn good in anything, even (especially) a fishnet body suit. But if I’m being honest, I probably won’t be rocking a fishnet body suit anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean Lizzo’s style is unattainable! She wears tons of color, glitter, feathers, and she loves underwear as outerwear. The first thing you have to do to if you want to emulate Lizzo’s style is to love your body and dress to show it off. Try form-fitting clothing, show off your cleavage, and embrace your figure. Experiment with colors and invest in a pair of fishnet stockings. She also dons animal print and colored eyeshadow. So, in other words, have fun!

Halsey
Halsey is a badass with a good ass. And she knows it. Similar to the other women in this article, Halsey is always herself and that is truly demonstrated in her style. Halsey’s style is pretty eclectic; one day she’s rocking a t-shirt and shorts and then next days she’s in full glam. Halsey loves denim shorts and cropped tops, and she hates bras. She’s also constantly changing her hair. She’s gone from a buzzcut to red locks to a baby pink pixie cut. Because her style is so undefinable, it’s hard to say exactly what you can wear to channel Halsey. But first and foremost, I’d say have fun with your outfits. Halsey rocks animal print, studs, suspenders, and mesh, sometimes all at once! Try this: a graphic tee, hand-cut to show a little tummy or a little cleavage paired with denim shorts and either cowboy boots or Air Force 1s. And, if you’re not afraid of a little commitment, visit your local tattoo shop to truly imitate the one and only Halsey.

Ariana Grande
If there’s one thing we know about Ariana Grande it’s that she loves oversized sweatshirts and thigh-high boots. And while that’s great for Ariana, it doesn’t make sense for me or you to go to Starbucks dressed that way. Ariana is either ultra-feminine or she’s wearing an insanely oversized puffer jacket. Oh and high, high, high heels. And let’s not forget about her signature ponytail–quintessential Ariana. But recently, she’s dropped the pony and has been experimenting with different hairstyles like space buns, Bridgette Bardot-inspired looks, and even low ponies. So if you’re obsessed with Ari and are inspired by her fashion, try incorporating any oversized jacket, sweater, sweatshirt, or shirt to your look. And if you’re not ready to wear the oversized jacket and only that, try this look with biker shorts. Pair this outfit with sneakers, bunny ears, and a Starbucks, and you’re ready to go.

Kacey Musgraves
Kacey Musgraves is America’s sweetheart. She’s a country gal with city style. But in everything Kacey wears, she brings a bit of country to it. Whether it’s denim, country-inspired embellishments, or big Dolly Parton-esque hair, Kacey has never forgotten her roots. Like the rest of us, Kacey loves a good pant suit. She’s worn pant suits multiple times to different award shows, and she looks so great in them. And pant suits are all about power. The music industry, and the country genre, has forever been dominated by male artists. So the women in country music have to show up, ready to play. And a pant suit says just that! Just ask Hillary Clinton. With that being said, Kacey loves color. Try reds, yellows, and pinks. And throw on you favorite denim jacket with every outfit. Tease your hair nice and big because we all know the bigger the hair, the closer to Heaven.

Beyoncé
Beyoncé is a fashion icon, there’s no denying. She loves color, patterns, and accessories. Lots and lots of accessories: hats, sunglasses, purses, and chunky jewelry. And she uses her roots to inspire her lookbook. Beyoncé is really hitting her stride with her fashion; she’s found the perfect balance between classic and edgy. Beyoncé has a bangin’ body, and she dresses it perfectly. She’s sexy, but not overtly so. She still shows off her best assets, but in a classic way. Beyoncé’s style is a little hard to define, but to emulate the Queen Bey herself, try a form-fitting skirt with an equally form-fitting graphic tee. Pair this outfit with a sexy pair of heels, chunky earrings, and natural makeup. Now all you have to do is marry a billionaire music mogul, and you’re all set.
