How To Have Your Curly Hair At Its Best
Do you have curly hair that’s just too dry? Do you want to improve your curls so every day is a great hair day? Then look down below at all the tips to improve your curly hair.
1. Moisture
A lot of people with curly hair, not even just friends of mine, think they’re caring for their curls in the best possible way when really their stripping their hair of its natural oils. One way, in particular, you could improve your hair is by making sure your products you use contain no sulfate, silicones or parabens. I recommend a hair mask every 2 weeks, or once a week depending on how dry your hair is. I personally like an avocado mask. I mash up an avocado with honey, and olive oil, and leave it in for about an hour maybe more, but personally, I only do this every two weeks. It may sound silly, but other treatments which are similar to this are mayo and beer, providing soft and shiny hair as well. I prefer these types of treatments over the store brand, not only are they cheaper but they ensure more moisture for your hair.
2. Washing Hair
The most important thing to realize when washing your hair is not to do it often. I only wash my hair once a week to not strip it of its natural oil. If this is too daring for you then try 3 times and then move to 2 times a week. Throughout the week I recommend you spray your hair with a spray bottle filled with cool water and two pumps of conditioner. When washing your curly hair, detangle it in the shower while you have your conditioner in; make sure not to wash all your conditioner out, leave a little bit in. Afterward, when your hair is soaked, you should apply your after shower products to ensure your hair absorbs it.
3. Styling
I personally don’t recommend any heat being applied to curly hair since it’s more sensitive to dry hair. I prefer to air dry. But if you don’t like wet hair on your shoulders, try putting your blow dryer on a cool setting, or the lowest heat setting. If you wanna straighten your hair or style it in any other way which requires heat, invest into a good heat protectant.
4. Salon
If this word is as scary to you as it was to me, it won’t be for long. I hated the idea of someone telling me how short to cut my hair cause of dead ends, or possibly ruining my hair. But then I went to “Vaza salon” in Ossining. It’s the only salon in Westchester that specializes in curly hair. I swear they transformed my curls. It’s good to have a salon or even stylist you trust. Just so you can get you’re trim every 3 months and even a deep condition. They can give some good advice on how to improve some of your hair issues and even recommend products.
