How To Get Rid Of A Hickey Fast And Easily
You need to get rid of a hickey fast and easily so no one sees. Well, we gotcha covered, as everything on this list is guaranteed to help in that endeavor. but you need to remember that not everything here is guaranteed 100% to get rid of bruising, and may take at least 24 at the very least. With that in mind, here is are your best options.
Pressure
One sure-fire way to help get rid of a hickey is to rub the affected area. Rubbing it will increase blood flow, and make the bruised area less tense. This is the best option for when you are on a budget, just be careful to be gentle with yourself. Rubbing the area too hard can actually make the bruise worse, so be honest with yourself about your limits.
Ice Packs
The very first thing I would suggest trying is an ice pack. Though it may seem like it does not do anything, the cold compression reduces blood flow to the vessels. You can use anything cold really. A cold compress, a cool towel, even some frozen peas if you have to make it work! Just apply for around 10 minutes every hour or so, and you will notice results. Depending on the severity of your hickey though, the ice pack will do very little, especially when you are on a time crunch.
Vitamin K
Food entries arguably take the longest and have no sure fire proof that it will work for you, and how quickly it would work at that. However, foods rich in Vitamin K help your body absorb clotted blood. So foods like broccoli and spinach will help your hickey go away. You can also get Vitamin K topical creams if you hate leafy greens, and a simple Google search should get you where you need to go.
Pineapple
Another food entry that can help get rid of a hickey but can vary in the time it takes is Pineapple. Pineapple contains a special enzyme that helps reduce bruising. It does not matter if you eat or drink it, you will get the necessary enzyme into your body. I personally suggest doing this, and any of the other treatments listed here.
The Toothbrush Trick
This is the method that was whispered all across middle school hallways, and it really does work. Take a toothbrush with soft bristles, and gently brush the area for around 10 minutes. The brushing will allow blood to work out the clotting and flow normally, ultimately reducing the appearance of the bruise. This one won’t feel great, and can make the hickey worse if you brush too hard, but can remove a hickey in just a few days without having to ingest something or rub goop all over yourself.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera offers more than just being a gross drink and a great treatment for sunburns. Since Aloe Vera is rich in anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, simply applying it to the bruised area can reduce swelling quickly! Apply it once or twice a day depending on the severity, but remember that this will only speed up the healing process instead of getting rid of the bruise completely.
Banana Peels
The weirdest idea on our list also can prove to be the most effective. The inside of the banana peel is full of vitamins and nutrients which reduce the appearance of a bruise. Rub the bruised with the inside of a banana peel from a ripe banana for 30 minutes or until the peel goes brown. Repeat this process a few times a day until the hickey is gone! You can also use a general banana peel rub if you can find one, however, I haven’t found a proper banana scrub yet.
Toothpaste
Now I know it may seem like I am trolling with some of my suggestions. But you need to trust me on this one, peppermint toothpaste can get rid of a hickey in as little as 24 hours! Apply a liberal amount of toothpaste on the affected area and let it dry, then just clean it off as usual. Repeat the process every few hours to give the peppermint time to make the hickey fade. Make sure you use peppermint toothpaste though, or else you will just have a hickey that smells like bubblegum.
CBD
Depending on how legal it is in your state, CBD can be a great way to get rid of a hickey! A simple CBD oil rubbed on the affected area can naturally rid the skin of a hickey. CBD oils are 100% natural and include anti-inflammatory properties. Just apply a small amount, let it sit, and repeat the process! This entry goes for all scar fading products that you might encounter, just make sure you read the instructions!
Makeup
Taking a little bit of foundation and covering up the hickey works great. If you do not have any foundation, ask your girlfriend for some, or whoever gave you the hickey. Unless it was a guy, but hey it is 2020 and guys wear makeup too… the point is someone has makeup, so borrow it!
Turtlenecks
Now I know this one may seem a bit comical to suggest, but sometimes the best solutions are the most obvious. If you have a neck hickey and you need to cover it up quickly, then grab a turtleneck. In case you are unaware, the turtleneck covers the neck, meaning nobody will see your love marks. It is the best option for unexpected dinners with your parents after a thrilling round of suck-neck, so make sure to keep at least one turtle neck in your ensemble.
Getting rid of a hickey is not easy, but it can be done with proper care. Hopefully, you learned something from the list above and got nothing else to worry about. Did I forget any tricks to make your hickey go away? If I did, make sure you let me know in the comments down below!
