How to Fall In Love With Fall

If you’re having trouble getting into the Fall mood this season, don’t worry you aren’t alone. Fall happens to occur right in the middle of the midterm season which can make it easy to forget about, especially if you live in a southern state where it stays hot. But never fear because there are a few ways that you can jump-start your festive spirit.

1. Candles

Autumnal scented candles are one of the easiest ways to jolt your fall spirit back to life. From a million different pumpkin scents to freshly picked apples there’s a scent for everyone. I 10/10 recommend Bath & Body W0rks fall candle selection. Of course, there are tons of other candle brands but I think Bath & Body Works has perfectly mastered the scent of the fall season perfectly.

If you aren’t a big fan of super sweet pumpkin smelling candles like myself, try a ‘heavier scents or one of their apple scents. One of my favorite scents is called Black Cherry Merlot. You can burn it all year round, but it does have a holiday vibe to it, I highly recommend. They also have tons of apple scented candles that smell fresher, not as sweet as some of their pumpkin ones, and still encompasses the fall season. Also, you can try burning candles in a larger room so the smell isn’t as strong.

2. Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving is at the top of my to-do list every fall season. There’s nothing better than getting a bunch of friends and carving pumpkins. If you want to make it even more challenging, try making it into a contest. Most of them will turn out pretty bad but it’ll be a really fun process. If you really want to make it into an adventure go to a pumpkin patch rather than just buying your pumpkins at the grocery store. It makes for a super cute fall photo op too!

If you aren’t really in the mood to carve a pumpkin you can stick with the alternative and paint it. The best part about this is that you don’t have to worry about messing up because you can just paint over it. They also don’t smell as bad so you can keep them inside your apartment for a while.

3. Halloween Themed Items

Don’t forget that Halloween falls into the fall season. If your a super fan of Halloween its never to early to start busting out your fav movies and themed items. If you want to start bringing out the witches hat’s and spider webs go for it, but if you want to keep it lowkey for a little while try checking out Lush. They have tons of amazing bath and body items that are perfect for your inner witch. With black cat bath bombs and themed body soaps, they’ll for sure keep your glam and gore under wraps until the perfect time and you’ll smell amazing.

4. Fall Wardrobe

There’s no better excuse for a wardrobe change than a change in season. The fall season is all about busting out all the over-sized sweaters, scarves, beanies and booties that your heart desires. Its all about layers and muted colors. My personal favorites being muted greens and tans.

If you’re in a fall season slump, this will 100% change your attitude. After all, shopping is the best kind of therapy right? Sadly if you live in a Southern state you might have to wait a little while longer for a change in season, but don’t worry its coming and in the meantime, you can stick to fall scented products.

5. Fall Themed Food

We all know about the famous PSL, but if you secretly aren’t a fan don’t worry there are other fall foods that are amazing and the perfect way to get you into the fall spirit. One of my personal favorites is gingerbread cookies. I know that technically they’re seen as a Christmas cookie, but they smell like fall to me so they count. Snickerdoodles are also the perfect fall cookie. Try making them at home to really get into the fall season.

Trader Joe’s also offers a ton of fall-themed food products ranging from pumpkin pancake recipes to maple leaf cookies. I totally recommend checking them out because I promise you’ll find a fall-themed item that you like. And like I said before Halloween is part of fall, so the Pillsbury Halloween themed sugar cookies count as a fall classic.

6. Fall Decorations

The Fall season is the perfect time to let your inner interior decorator and Pinterest savvy self take over. Making your living space transform into fall heaven with different tones of orange, brown, and white, you’ll be sure to get into the fall spirit. If you really don’t know where to start with decorations try with some basic fall-themed items like rugs and banners. They’re super easy to find in stores like Michael’s and even grocery stores, you can also look online on Amazon.

If you’ve got the basic fall decor going try adding some small decorative pumpkins (real or fake) to really encompass the fall season. White pumpkins are my personal favorite because they keep your fall decorations from completely taking over your aesthetic. Fall is also all about being cozy so throw a huge cozy blanket onto your couch and hang some string lights for an all-around fall theme.

7.  Fall/Halloween Movie Night

There’s nothing better than having a Halloween movie marathon. Whether it’s with your significant other, or just with friends it will for sure put you into the fall mood. You can watch some not so scary movies like “Hocus Pocus” to reminisce about your childhood, or you can go for scary movies like “The Exorcist”. One of my favorite things to do is look for the ultimate scary movie list off of Pinterest and try to watch all of them.

If you aren’t in the mood to watch a movie try binge-watching American Horror Story. It’ll definitely put you into the Halloween spirit. No matter what you end up watching make sure you have plenty of blankets and a fall scented candle burning to really up the fall spirit.

I hope these ideas helped you get into the fall spirit this season. What are some of your favorite things to do during the fall season? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to share the article!
