How To Decorate Your Home For Thanksgiving Like A Pro

Decorating your home for Thanksgiving like a pro only takes a few subtle touches that come together to make a statement. To make a warm inviting feeling for your guest who visits this Thanksgiving is based on adding warm colors to create a welcoming experience. Just keep that in mind as I go into some touches you can make in your home decor to welcome your guest.

Front Door Wreath

The first thing that your family and friends see before they enter your home is your door. To make this an inviting door to enter, you can add a wreath made out of leaves and wrapped with the words Thanksgiving, gratefulness, or simply welcome. This small touch will set the precedent of what to expect when they walk into the front door which is a loving and friendly environment.

Front Of The Home

If you have a walk up to your house. Then you can also decorate the step and walk-up area to welcome your guest. By the way, if you have a long driveway and have minimum lights, you can add some to help your guest be able to see when the lights when the sunsets. You could get a small scarecrow to place in the grass with some hay, and a few pumpkins and make some sort of scene.  You could also get some pumpkins and place them on the steps. It is completely up to you if you want to decorate this area. Just remember whatever you choose to do, to make a lasting positive impression.

Scented Candles

Scented candles are a small touch that can give your house a homie feel for your family and friends. I would just make sure be for placing them or lighting them that no one has a sensitivity to a specific smell, so everyone is comfortable and able to experience the holiday together. Otherwise, there are a variety of fragrances to choose from, and depending on your home and how much you like candles will depict how many of them you will want to purchase and have out around the house.

Message Board

There are many things to grateful for in each one of our lives. A message board will allow your family and friends to share what they are grateful for.  All you need is a corkboard decorated to match the other destinations in your home. Then place it in a place everyone can easily access it. Then you lay out some pens and paper leaves so that individuals can share their gratefulness in their individual lives.

Living Room

Onto the living room. There are two things that you can do in this area to make a statement. First, you can add Thanksgiving themed decorative pillows to the sofa. If that is not your style, you can always place fall themed plain color pillows on the sofa. The second decoration to add to your home is decorating the coffee table. It can be as simple or full as you want it to be. It doesn’t take much, you could add a paper turkey, an autumn inspired centerpiece with gores, pumpkins, pinecones, or maize. It all depends on what you like. But you can simply decorate the table with just flowers.

Treats

Nothing says Thanksgiving like some treats. A placement of snacks or desserts on the coffee table will be welcoming for anyone in your home. It is not much but it will give your family something to tide them over before dinner. Or something to just eat while they are watching television or casually talking. The placement of the treats is what turn the snacks into a decoration. It is similar to when a chief is plating a dish. It becomes a work of art when they are done. It is a similar concept.

Dining Room

There are several things that you can do to the dinner table to get it ready for Thanksgiving this year. A table cloth can go a long way and can serve multiple purposes. First, it will help to enhance the great feast that you and your family and friends are going to be partaking in. There is no specific color that you should choose. I would just recommend not using a light color like white or bright yellow. It will help with not having to figure out how to remove stains if something gets spilled on your table cloth. Second, it can help maintain the integrity of your dining table from getting snatched up.

A place setting can be welcoming to the dinner table when a seating placement name card is sitting out. The way that you create it is up to you. It can be tied around a napkin on the dinner plate. As long as the person name is visible the design is completely up to you in the way you want to create it and the amount of time you have. The place setting should just have the plates and silverware out in the correct placement for dinner.

Subtle Touches

Since Thanksgiving is in the fall, there are a lot of pumpkins, gores, and leaves outside that can be used as subtle touches around your home to help with decorating your home like a pro. You could add some pumpkins on the tables around the house. Another subtle decoration that can be added is some different forms of wall art that can be used to remember why everyone is gathered there that day. It can even be used to spark the remembrance of the things that each individual is grateful for in their life. The wall art can be different kinds of images on canvas or just frames. A banner could possibly be used to express the season.

Thanksgiving is about bringing your family together and remember each other’s lives and the things we should be grateful for. It is important to decorate your home in a way that is welcoming to your family and friends. These tips should have your house decorated like a pro in no time.
