It may be summer now but the second-best season, Fall, will be here before we know it. Fall involves much more than pumpkin spice lattes (although they are a huge and great part of the season). When the leaves start to change colors, that also means sweater season is upon us, as well as picking apples, and visiting pumpkin patches. It’s the coziest season ever, and decorating your house for Fall can be just as fun too. Here’s how to decorate your home for Fall this year!
Whether you like the taste of pumpkin or not, Fall really could not complete without talking about pumpkins, or incorporating them into the season. Fall decor starts with pumpkins, to be honest. When the season rolls around, you can be sure to find small little pumpkins at stores, such as Trader Joe’s. You do not necessarily need to pick the seeds out of them or carve them, but you can simply use them as fall decor. You can add a little pumpkin to your coffee table, or on a bureau in your house, to get in the spirit for Fall. Outside on your doorsteps, you can leave bigger pumpkins leading up to your door. They will make your house look festive and really bring in the season. To get even more into Fall, drink some apple cider, put on some Halloween music, get creative and carve those pumpkins!
We know that there are so many candles that come in Fall inspired, cozy scents. The smell of Fall really comes through with vanilla and apple, as well as unique scents and names for candles like “sweater weather.” Nothing says comfort more than relaxing on the couch with some pillows, throw blankets, and candles lit, especially if remind you of the Autumn leaves and hot apple cider. Adding Fall inspired candles to your home can get you excited to wear boots and sweaters for a few months. Candles can also take up space if you are looking to add more decor to your house and are not sure what would fit best. They not only smell amazing, but they look good as Fall decor too.
When you think of Fall, you definitely think of foliage. It’s one of the best parts of Fall, seeing all the leaves change into a pretty mix of orange, brown, yellow, red. You can’t go wrong decorating your house with leaf art when it comes to Fall decor. Some of the best places to buy decorations for your home for any season is TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but if you are shopping online, you can find the most unique pieces at Etsy. At either store, you can find a ton of house decor, and can most likely find leaf-shaped art, such as bowls, or wall art. Adding leaf art into your home can make it feel like Fall is officially here.
If you have a vase, or a mason jar, adding foliage inspired pieces can help bring Fall into your home. This means, filling glass vases, or mason jars with acorns. Or, adding dried flowers with colors of burgundy, orange, yellow, and brown can help your house look perfect for Fall. You also can incorporate acorns (which totally represent Fall) in other ways. You can decorate your home for Fall this year with acorns in the form of wall art, such as an accent piece shaped in the form of an acorn. Adding a plaid ribbon, burlap, or Fall-inspired color ribbon around your piece.
If you have a solid color couch or bedspread, or one that just has minimal detail on it – adding Fall inspired pillows can be a fun way to decorate your home with Fall decor. Finding pillows that scream Fall (like having the words Fall or pumpkins on it) can look really bring the season into your home, and can easily be stored away after the season is over.
One of the best ways to show you love Fall in your house is right at your doorstep. Adding a wreath on your front door is a simple and subtle way of adding Fall decor into your home. There are so many different types of wreaths for the seasons, and you can leave yours up all the way past Thanksgiving if it’s made for Fall. Some ways to add Fall into a wreath are using pinecones, ribbons, small pumpkins, tones of red, orange, brown, yellow, dark green, and using dried flowers or fake leaves.
Having a nice centerpiece on your table can make your dining room really stand out. For Fall, there are so many ways you can get creative with making a centerpiece that will remind you of apple pie and cozy nights. You can create a beautiful Fall centerpiece using a glass vase of a sizing that you like, and decorating the outside with plaid, lace, burlap or ribbon. You can fill the vase full of sunflowers, or dried flowers, that remind you of the season. You can also add a few tealight candles around it, or smaller candles with a neutral look.
Decorating for Fall can be full of creativity, and DIY crafts. Mason jars are especially easy to decorate and make unique. Honestly, mason jars can be good for a ton of things other than just drinking out of one. They can be super decorative and unique when they are filled. Ways to fill mason jars can be with flowers, candy, beads, rocks, pasta, etc. But, for Fall, filling up mason jars with candy corn, or other Fall or Halloween inspired treats can make for simple Fall decor on your kitchen counter. One idea for Fall-inspired treats to go into a mason jar is making your own kind of trail mix using popcorn, small pieces of chocolate, M&Ms, pretzels, and candy corn or a Chex Mix inspired by the season.
