How To Decorate Your Bedroom On A Budget

Sometimes, you just need a little change of scenery in life, especially when it comes to your bedroom. But, bedroom decorations can come at a steep price and it’s not always easy to find both cute and cheap decorations. If you’re short on ideas on how to spruce up your bedroom and make it your happy place once again, then look no further! Here’s how to decorate your bedroom on a budget.

1. Add some plants

Adding plants to your bedroom is one of the easiest and cheapest solutions to spicing up your bedroom! No matter the size or color of the plant, it will instantly brighten up the room no matter where you put it. If you’re scared of potentially killing your plant, buy a fake one! It will still look super real and will last forever. Add a larger plant in the corner of your room, smaller ones on your desk or dresser, or anything you want! This decor hack will definitely keep you on your budget but still looks super cute!

2. DIY shelves

Geometrically shaped shelves are all the rage right now but can be pricey. So, how would you feel if I told you these shelves were made entirely out of popsicles sticks? Yes, that’s right, all you’ll need for this fun DIY project is a trip to the craft store and a little bit of time. You can buy all the materials needed for this craft for pretty cheap, plus it’s not too difficult to build and looks super cute! You can paint these shelves to match the rest of your room and place whatever you like on them!

3. Thrifting

I’m not a huge shopper myself, but I adore thrifting. It’s like an exciting treasure hunt; sometimes you find gold, sometimes you come up empty-handed. But, when you do find gold, there’s nothing better! Thrifting is great for looking for bedroom decorations because you can find little knickknacks that you would probably never see in another store. If you’re lucky, you could find a funky mirror, a pretty vase, or a cool mug to decorate your bedroom with. And if you come up short at one thrift store, there’s always more around!

4. Fairy lights

These next bedroom decorations are an obvious one, but it really does change the feel of your entire room. Fairy lights or any type of string lights are pretty cheap in general and will add so much light and brightness to your room. They come in all sorts of colors and designs, so you’re bound to find something you like! You could hang these lights on your wall, wrap them around your headboard, or even put them in an empty mason jar for a cute centerpiece. Forget your harsh overhead bedroom lights and turn on some relaxing fairy lights!

5. Vamp up old mason jars

With these next bedroom decorations, you’ll potentially be spending zero dollars and creating something really cute for your room. If you have some old mason jars lying around, why not turn them into something more chic for your room? There’s lots of room to get creative with this project because you can paint, glue, or tie anything you want to the jars! Use your finished jars as pencil holders, makeup brush holders, or anything that your heart desires! Place them on your desk or maybe even plant something in one!

6. Book covers

If you love books, but don’t really love the look of them on your nightstand, this is a great solution! Simply take your favorite wrapping or scrapbook paper and wrap it around the front and back cover of the book so that it’s still readable but has a whole new look! Wrap up a couple of books and match the colors to the rest of your bedroom to give it a more seamless look. Unless you buy wrapping or scrapbook paper, you’ll be using materials you already have at home and won’t be spending a dime on these bedroom decorations!

7. Framed scrapbook paper

The scrapbook paper is coming in handy once again for these simple and cute bedroom decorations. All you need is any size picture frame that you desire and your favorite piece of scrapbook paper to create a pretty framed art piece to hang on your wall! This piece of decor is perfect if your walls are feeling a little bare or you just need something new! Either way, you’ll end up with a decoration that can be made for very cheap and doesn’t take long to make!

8. DIY hanging shelf

This next decoration is another DIY project that anyone could do! Sure, you could buy a hanging shelf, but this DIY version will be way cheaper and way more fun! All you need is a plank of wood, some twine, and wall hanging hooks that you can find at your local home improvement store for very little money. Building this shelf might take a bit of time and energy, but think of how beautiful your room will look with this snazzy new hanging shelf!

9. Invest in some throw pillows

This decor tip is another obvious one, but it truly enhances everything about your room. Throw pillows can bring a pop of color to your potentially bland bedroom and make your bed ten times more comfortable. Plus, throw pillows are generally very cheap and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, so there’s most likely something out there for you! Also, a lot of times throw pillows have different colors on each side, so if you ever get bored with one side, you can just flip it over!

10. Fake flowers

If your walls are bare and in need of some sprucing up, why not cover them in fake flowers? Fake flowers are a great alternative to the real thing for many reasons, but especially because they look so real! You can buy fake flowers at a craft store for very cheap, and you can cut and shape them however you like! Make a curtain wall out of them, or use them to line your vanity or desk. If you feel like flowers aren’t really your thing, you could buy long green vines for the same purpose! There are no rules when it comes to decorating your happy place.
