How To Be A Total Girlboss While Job Hunting

Whether you’re trying to find your first job out of college or you’re thinking about leaving your current job and finding another, hunting for jobs can be stressful. It requires a lot of time and effort, and sometimes you just want to give up. However, a girlboss never gives up! Go out there and find the job of your dreams like the girlboss that you are.

What Is A GirlBoss?

Oh, we are so happy you asked, honey. Being a girlboss is a way of life! It is that confidence in your walk that tells men to look out, ladies to join in, and more importantly employers to hire you fast! When ladies transform themselves into girlbosses, it gives them the power they need to own it. You don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life, you just live it. The bills are paid on time, that watch and those shoes were a gift to yourself, and you ain’t got no time for f*ckboys! Sounds like something you’d be interested in, right? We thought so, too.

The After-College Job Hunt

Absolutely no one enjoys job hunting. Whether it’s the first fast food gig in high school, the bartending night gig that’s paying for your books, or the grand finale after-college career move, it sucks! However, we can help you make it suck less. Being a total girlboss will completely change the job hunting game. First and foremost, make sure you have the basics together. If you’ve got the grades and the resume you are off to a great start. Now you just have to think hard about where you are willing to sacrifice your time and work your way up for the next umpteen years.

Girlboss-ing It Up

This is the part we know you will absolutely love, ladies. It is time to girlboss it up! So like we said before, it takes confidence, leadership, just the right amount of attitude and of course the brains to be a girlboss. It’s not something just anyone can do, but we have faith in you. Let’s start with the confidence. If you are already a confident woman, great! Just make sure you keep it in check. Chances are though you are not the most confident lady in the career search and that is okay. Just take a deep breath and focus. You know what you want to do and where you want to end up in life. You know what skills you do and don’t have. Be honest, sell yourself, don’t sell yourself short. If you have to use that fancy college vocabulary to spice up your experience and make it sound extravagant then go ahead, girl! When you know what you are capable of (which, helloooo is anything) you have all the confidence in the world. Next, the leadership skills. There is no particular way to teach leadership to you ladies. All you need to know is that you will -not- take anyone’s BS. Again, you know what you are capable of and deserve, so do not let anyone get in the way of that AND help other ladies up the ladder on your way if you can. That’s a real leader lady boss. As for the attitude part, that should be pretty easy to figure out. Being women, we’ve had to deal with a lot of crap since day one, am I right? So you all know how to give that flare of attitude and what is too much. Do not be rude, you do not want to turn the title girlboss into bitch. It will not go well in the professional world, trust us. Ready for the final step?

Dress. To. Kill.

These words speak for themselves. Dress to kill the competition. If it takes a three-piece power suit and those red hot pumps to overpower then do it, girl! Each employer will have a different dress code, depending on your career direction. We can’t specifically tell you what to wear, but we think it’s pretty common sense. It’s okay to be beautiful at work, ladies and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Just remember, less is more. Too much skin is a definite no-no. Dress to impress. Dress to kill. Dress like the girlboss you really are!

Any woman can become a total girlboss, honey. Just follow our guidelines and don’t be shy. Get out there and work it, girl. Then comment below and tell us how you’re a total girlboss!
