How To Add Flair To Your Style

Do you add flair to your closet? If not, you should test the waters and try it out! There are plenty of ways to add flair to your style and it won’t cost you a dollar (unless you don’t have the required materials in your closet). I am not asking you to change your style.

Changing your style is not an easy feat. Your fashion sense is different from others, each person prefers different styles.  For instance, I prefer professional attire when I go to work while I love to wear casual clothes while I am at home. Each person has their own individual style and their style is like an individual fingerprint: they are unique to each person. If you want to add flair to your style, continue reading. Here is a list of ways to add flair to your fashion sense.

1. Accenting Colors With Items In Your Closet

One way to add flair to your style is to accent your look with a different color. For instance, if your color-code consists of black, white and gray, you can accent it with a teal, turquoise or pink cardigan or jacket. If your color-code consists of beige, chocolate-brown and white, you can accent it with a mint green, turquoise or orange cardigan or jacket. This is one way to add flair to your look.

Another way to accent your look is by emphasizing a particular feature that you want to stand out. By accenting a feature of your outfit, you add flair to your style. For instance, when you accent your outfit with accessories like a bracelet or a necklace, you are accenting the sleeve or neckline of your shirt or blouse.

2. Accessorizing Outfits With Clothes In Your Closet

There are plenty of ways to add flair to your fashion closet, in times of self-quarantine, is to accessorize with your outfits. For instance, if you accessorize with a color-code that consists of navy, white and teal, you could accent with a blue headband with a different texture or a black bracelet. If your color-code consists of black, white and gray, you can accent with gray, silver, blue, or a sage-green accessory.

Accessorizing your outfits is another way of accenting your style, but with jewelry, headbands, purses, or belt-purses. By accessorizing your look, it gives you a chance to add a bit of whimsy to the outfit you are wearing. Accessorizing your look is cute but it is not cute when you are layering your style.

3. Adding Layers To Your Flaired Look

One way to add flair to your closet is to layer your looks with cardigans, vests, blazers, or jackets. There are plenty of ways to add layers to your fashionable outfits: you could wear a long sleeve shirt, vest, and a jacket with joggers and slip-on shoes. There are other ways you could add layers to your outfit like wearing a long sleeve or short sleeve baggy shirt underneath a jacket with a pair of leggings. If you want to add flair by adding layers, you need to know what it means to layer your clothes without making your look too cluttered.

Another way to add flair to your closet through layering is to ensure you are not going overboard with outfit layers. If you like layering your outfits, you need to understand the basics for fall or winter clothing styles. There are three main components to this process: a base layer, mid-layer and an outer layer.

Each of these layers work together to not only keep you going in the cold, but to make you look presentable while you are in self-quarantine. The base layer is a snug-fitting foundation piece while the mid-layer is the insulator (keeping you nice and toasty) and the outer layer protects you from the cold and shields you like an eggshell protecting an embryo.

4. Finding A Pattern For Your Outfits

There are plenty of ways to add flair to your outfits is to add different patterns to these said outfits. For instance, if you add a white cheetah print shirt with black joggers and a silver necklace, you have a new outfit. You could also accent your patterned look with different colors that fit the color-code of the pattern. The white cheetah print shirt is an example, the colors that would best accent this shirt would be teal, sage green, and a mint green cardigan or a jacket.

Patterns do not always have to be animal print, they could consist of stripes, graphic tee patterns, and other designs. Each pattern shares similarities, but they have different pigmentation and design. Patterns are similar to texture in some aspects. However, unlike texture, each design has multiple differences to each name-brand (or generic) shirt.

5. Adding Textures To Your Outfits

One way to add flair to your closet is to add texture to your outfit. There are plenty of ways to add texture to your fashionable outfits: you could wear a baggy, gray sherpa top with striated, black leggings and fluffy slip-on shoes. There are other ways you could add texture to your outfit like wearing a feathery or furry sweater with a tweed jacket and skirt. If you want to add flair by using texture, you need to know what it means.

According to realmenrealstyle.com, “Texture refers to the physical surface of a piece of cloth. Sometimes it has a visible unevenness and sometimes it appears completely smooth. Texture can — but doesn’t always — affect how color and pattern of the garment look.”

Textures do not always have to match one another, they can consist of different fibers and still look attractive. However, it depends on what blends look good with one another or if they are in fashion at the moment.
