How These Self-Love Tips Are The Key To Success
Self-love tips are important to learn each year. Every year as we close out the holidays with our loved ones and prepare for an epic New Years Eve party to welcome the new year ahead its seen as such an exciting time. You can let go of all the crap from the previous year. Focus on the things you wish to accomplish in the coming months and the ever cliché “new year, new me” is at a forefront. However, as the new year begins and our resolutions begin to fizzle out often times we forget about the sole most important idea, to create a better version of ourselves. Self-love. Self-love essentially is focusing on you and your happiness (in the most humble way of course). Love yourself fully and whole heartedly and make 2018 successful by following these 5 steps:
1. Make time for you!
Write down twelve things you love to do (outside of work) such as workout, travel, food, volunteer, read, cooking, etc. Write each one on an individual piece of paper, put it in container, shake it up and each month pull out one piece of paper. If your January pick says (workout), find a couple new workouts to try with a friend, follow this each month for the entire year. Carve out a little time a couple times each month to do that thing you wrote down.
2. Gratitude & Positivity
We are what we think. My mom used to say it to me all the time when I was a kid and now I truly see what a huge effect our words have on us. Be positive, we live in society that criticizes us enough. Set a mantra for yourself to repeat daily, write it down, post it somewhere you can see it everyday. Feel it to your core, be your biggest cheerleader.
3. Treat your body like a temple
Fuel it, rest it, and honor it. I grew up an athlete, played in college, and still coach my sport to this day. The one thing I have grown up knowing is that if you fuel your body with proper nutrients and give it the rest it craves it will work for you in amazing ways. Your body is your temple, honor it by consistent exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep.
4. Say No
Learn to say no. As humans we want to please everyone. Often times stretching ourselves so thin it becomes detrimental to our health. Learning to say no was a big lesson I take from 2017 and will continue to carry into 2018. It doesn’t mean you don’t care about the “thing” you say no to, but recognize when you need a break mentally and physically. Saying no is so freeing you’ll wonder why you haven’t already made it a habit.
5. Be Present
Work, play, family, life, whatever you may be doing. Live and be in the present moment. Stop constantly looking for more, the next greatest thing, event, or plan The next great thing could be sitting right in front of us and we are too busy thinking about the future to notice.
Live your life with intention, set “crazy”goals and then achieve them but most of all love yourself.
