At just 26 years old, Harry Styles is a force to be reckoned with. As a young artist, the UK born Styles found himself on the hit show, X-Factor. Harry was paired with the other members of One Direction; Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Nial Horan, by the all-knowing Simon Cowell. The band became an instant teen sensation and the rest is history. As the band continued to grow their music and expand as artists they began to define themselves individually, finding what made them individual artists as they began to grow apart. In 2016, One Direction broke up and the artists went their separate ways.
Harry Styles is currently a solo musician, with acting parts on his resume, modeling gigs earned and the title of a true fashion icon. He uses each of these fascets to express himself artistically, drawing in more fans each year and higher earning opportunities. Not only has Harry Styles excelled in his career but he continues to be an advocate for human rights, LGBTQ rights, gun safety, and participates in charity work- making a name for himself outside of the entertainment industry.
Harry Styles has always valued human rights and charitable work and believes that all individuals deserve the same rights to survive, learn, grow and have every chance to succeed no matter their creed, sex, religion, sexual preference, or color. During his last world tour, which took place in 2017, Harry worked to benefit over 62 charities around the world. His world tour consisted of traveling across America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, sharing his music and his views of the world, with the world.
Over his 10 months-long tour, Harry Styles would advocate for human rights, American Gun reform, and climate change- He even banned single-use plastics from all of his shows. Harry wanted to be sure that his shows were able to contribute to the earth rather than take from it. Many of his shows consisted of special songs or tributes that represented a specific group of people or specific timing in our history. During the tour, Harry Styles also donated ticket contributions and merchandise profits to select charities that worked within the confounds of his tour location to help benefit humanitarian and environmental efforts.
During his world tour, Harry Styles raised over $1.2 million in charity money through his ‘Treat People With Kindness” initiative, donating to over 62 charities around the world and helped countless families in the process.
Harry Styles has supported the charity Aid Still Required over the past few years. The Aid Still Required (ASR) is an organization that is dedicated to bringing attention to communities and humanitarian crises. They focus on areas that have suffered from natural disasters or humanitarian crises. The organization works to build back these communities while remaining environmentally conscious and sustainable.
Harry Styles has also worked to raise money for the Alzheimers Society, an organization dedicated to finding cures and medicines to help combat the disease of Alzheimer’s, as well as the Amnesty International charity. This charity is part of the larger Amnesty international organization which helps to carry out charitable human work that values the human rights of every individual. Their objective is to promote human rights throughout the world while giving back to those whose rights have been stricken.
Harry Styles and Lady Gaga are both trailblazing advocates for LGBTQ+ human rights, mental health, and supporting the youth. Lady Gaga and her mother teamed up to create the Born This Way Foundation, a group that works to support the mental health of youth individuals. The Born This Way foundation strives to help young people create a kinder and braver world while advocating for mental health support and human rights.
Like Gaga, Harry Styles sees the value in helping today’s youth, the LGBTQ+ community, and supporting mental health. He also actively works to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and believes that it is something that should be widely discussed and accepted. Harry has contributed to the Born This Way foundation for the last couple of years and continues to advocate for youth and mental health rights.
Around the world, children are born at a disadvantage simply due to where they come from. The Save The Children foundation believes in a world where all children survive, are treated with kindness and care, are free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and where all children are given the chance at an education. Harry Styles works to promote the success of today’s youth and believes that given the chance, any child can be successful. He continues to support this charity by contributing to their efforts.
The MusiCares foundation is a charity group founded by the Recording Academy. This foundation helps to provide health care, financial support, and educational support to people who take part in music. As a musician himself, Harry Styles actively contributes to this cause to help support the music industry and up and coming musicians.
It has also been noted that Harry contributes to several other foundations and charities including the Muhammad Ali Center, Nordoff Robbins, and Trekstock. The Muhammad Ali Center is a world-renowned center dedicated to preserving Mohammad Ali’s legacy and inspiring others to create, learn, and grow in a beautiful museum. The Nordoff Robbins Foundation is an independent UK based musical therapy charity that supports mental health initiatives through the use of music. Trekstock is a program that caters to young adults in their 20s and 30s who are battling cancer and raises money to help fund medical costs.
