With all the confusion and hysteria surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s hard to imagine any good could possibly come from it. But it is essential that we search for happiness anywhere we can right now. Turn inwards, and start reflexing on things that actually matter to you. Follow this guide on how the Coronavirus can help us reconnect with ourselves.
You have all the time in the world to sit down and evaluate your life. Are you happy where you’re at? Is there something more you want to be doing? Are your relationships in a good place? Take this time to ask the tough questions, and really think about the answers. If you’re not happy with anything in your life, acknowledge it and start to take steps towards fixing whatever it is in your life that is not up to par for you. The first step towards fixing your life is examining it from within!
If there is anything we should learn from the Coronavirus, it is that we should never take our time together for granted, and the ones we hold dear can never be too aware of how much we care about them. Take advantage of the fact that everyone you love is at home right now, and give them a call. Catch up, fill each other in, and talk about anything that comes up. It doesn’t have to be about anything serious or particular! The act of reaching out and letting them know you love them is enough. You’ll feel better after you know how they’re doing, and they’l feel better hearing from someone you love. There’s nothing like reconnecting with family to help you start to reconnect with yourself.
It’s easy to make up excuses not to get to the gym. “I have a super busy schedule”! “I’m just too tired after work”! “Getting in shape is just not high enough on my priority list right now”. It’s time to put the excuses away, and start getting to work. It’s never too late to start working on yourself, and getting to know your body and its limitations is a great way to reconnect with yourself. Start making a change by learning your boundaries, and accepting the fact that change doesn’t happen over night. Start slowly building towards your goal, and soon you’ll start seeing results! Start working on your physical health, and your mental health will follow suit. During this mandatory quarantine, it is super important to stay sane, and exercise is a great way to keep yourself busy. Releasing some tension and endorphins while you workout will also help you cope with things you cannot change, and give you the courage and the confidence to achieve your goals!
Is there something you’ve always wanted to do, but somewhere along the way, life took over and delayed you discovering your dream? Now is the time to focus on that dream again, and make a plan. Do you want to go back to college? Maybe you want to travel the world, or open your own business. Whatever it is, put it in writing. Writing it down and seeing a physical representation of something you’ve always wanted to do will turn your dream into a goal, and goals can be achieved! The next step is figuring out what you need to do to start living your dream. Start small and realistic at first. If you want to go back to college, start researching summer classes. If you want to travel, narrow it down to where you’d like to go first, and what you’d like to see. The Coronavirus may seem insurmountable right now, but this won’t be forever. It’s incredibly important to continue to look forward to the future, and all that lies ahead!
There’s no better way to reconnect with yourself than through meditation. With an abundance of time at home, you should have no problem finding some time to close your eyes and take some deep breaths. All it really takes is ten minutes! You can choose to play music, or enjoy the silence. Have a friend or family member join in, or go solo. You can try guided meditation, or simply just do whatever makes you feel calm. There’s no wrong way to meditate, so don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works best for you! Once you start meditating, you’ll start to discover things about yourself you never knew, and your self-awareness will start to increase. It’s only a matter of time until you start to reconnect with yourself and create a much more fulfilled and satisfied version of yourself.
It’s easy in this crazy, fast-paced world that we live in to forget that even if we surround ourselves with those who love us, it still won’t be enough if we don’t love ourselves. So while you have a little more time to yourself than usual, take some time to fall in love with yourself again. Write down ten things every day (5 physical and 5 personality) that you love about yourself, and develop a mantra. Do the things that make you happy! Watch your favorite movie, cook your favorite food, blast your favorite song. While having a great support system is incredibly important, it won’t mean anything if we don’t truly believe we deserve the love we are receiving. We challenge you to become that confident, self-accepting girl boss you’ve always wanted to be, and that all starts with loving who you are right now. Once you accept the fact that you are an amazing person, you can truly start to open yourself up and accept love from others without any hesitation or mistrust. Get to know yourself. Because take it from us, you’re kinda really awesome!
