Whatever the case, read on to learn the best homemade cookie recipes that will even make your Grandma proud! 

1. Confetti Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 cup of mini candy-coated chocolate chips

Bring on the confetti! Make this homemade cookie recipe that’s super delicious and festive cookies, perfect for any celebration! A quick tip: Make sure to add the candy-coated chips only after you’ve combined all other ingredients. Roll your dough into tight balls and bake for 10 minutes. Enjoy!  

2. Lemon Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of grated lemon peel
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Frosting:

  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of grated lemon peel
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice

Lemon cookies are refreshing, light, and taste best at a picnic! Begin by mixing all of the ingredients into a bowl and then mold the dough into a log shape. Next, wrap the log in wax paper and chill for 1 to 2 hours in your fridge. Once the log has set, you can start to mix the frosting ingredients in another bowl. Next, cut the log into 1/4 inch slices and bake for 10 minutes. It’s important to let your cookies cool completely before you add the frosting. 

3. Chocolate Mint Pillows

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 49 chocolate sandwich mints

This homemade cookie recipe is the perfect snack after you and your lover partake in some “pillow talk!” Start off by mixing the sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. Stir, then add flour, baking powder, and salt. Then, divide the dough in half. Roll half of the dough into a rectangle and place mints evenly apart on the dough rectangle, forming 7 rows of 7. Between 2 sheets of wax paper, roll the remaining dough into another rectangle. Next, take off the wax paper and place the second rectangle over the mint-topped dough, making sure to match the edges. Then, cut the dough evenly between the mints and press the edges of the pillows to seal them. Finally, bake your pillows for 10 minutes and enjoy! 

4. Orange Mocha Crinkles

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 4 squares of melted unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon of instant coffee crystals
  • 1 tablespoon of hot water
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for topping

This dessert is not only tasty, but it’s super cute! In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar, oil, melted chocolate, and orange extract. Then in a separate bowl, combine the coffee crystals and water. Stir until the crystals dissolve and then add to the sugar mixture. At this point, you can add the rest of your ingredients (instead of the powdered sugar), but make sure to beat at medium speed until the mixture is well blended. Once the dough is well mixed, you will need to refrigerate it overnight. Yes, this is one of the longer recipes, but it’s totally worth it! In the morning, pull out your mixture and roll the dough into balls, then roll the balls in the powdered sugar.

5. Chocolate Chip Sunflower Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of shelled sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup of flaked coconut

This homemade cookie recipe is sure to make your summer sweet! In a large mixing bowl, combine all of your ingredients except the coconut. Divide your dough in half, and shape each half into a log. Next, roll the dough logs evenly in the coconut, then wrap them in plastic and chill for 2 hours in the fridge. Once the dough has hardened, you can cut the logs into 1/2 inch slices. Place slices on your cooking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. 

6. Toffee Apple Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cups of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package of almond brickle chips
  • 1 cup of chopped cooking apple
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans

There’s something about toffee and apple flavors that go so well together… Begin by combining all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, making sure to add the chips, apples, and pecans last. Once you have your dough, plop teaspoons of the dough onto your cooking sheets and then bake for 13 minutes. Enjoy! 

7. Coconut Macadamia Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of uncooked quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup of flaked coconut
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of chopped macadamia nuts

This homemade cooking recipe is super quick and easy! Simply combine all of your ingredients in a large mixing bowl, then spoon your dough by teaspoons 2 inches apart onto cooking sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, then they’re done! See, easy as that!

8. Peanut Butter and Jelly Thumbprints

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 egg

  • 3/4 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of your favorite jelly

These cookies taste great with a large glass of milk! In a large bowl, combine all of your ingredients except for your jelly and some of the peanut butter. Cover your mixture in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours. After they’ve chilled, you can take the mixture out and roll them into balls, and indent the top of them with your thumb. Then, place them in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Once they come out of the oven, immediately indent the cookies again (if they are too hot to indent with your thumb, then use the back of a spoon). Finally, add the jelly and remaining peanut butter amount on top of each thumbprint. 

9. Chocolate Brownie Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 squares of unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts

Chocolate makes everything better! For this easy homemade cookie recipe, simply mix all your ingredients in a large bowl (and make sure to add your walnuts last). After your dough has been thoroughly mixed, spoon the dough onto your cooking sheet and bake for 1o minutes. Short, sweet, and delicious! What more can a chocolate lover ask for? 

10. Snickerdoodles

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons of sugar (divided)
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

You can’t go wrong with Snickerdoodles! In a large bowl, combine the 1 1/2 cups of sugar, eggs, and butter. After stirring, add in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. Next, cover your mixture with plastic wrap and chill for just over an hour in the fridge. While you wait, in a small bowl combine the cinnamon and the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. After your mixture in the fridge has set, roll the dough in the cinnamon mixture, and then pop the balls of dough into the oven. Bake for 10 minutes and enjoy!
