The weather is so nice out this time of year, and Boston is an absolutely gorgeous city. I love to exercise and explore, so I am always in search of new places to visit. Plus, if you’re looking to spice up your insta, you have to get the perfect backdrop. So get your camera out, put comfortable shoes on and check out these hidden spots with the best views in Boston!
Address: 470 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02210
Cost: Free!
If you are looking for a fantastic view right near the water and Harborwalk, check out the Independence Wharf Observation Deck. From there you are able to overlook all of Fort Point and beyond. The Observation Deck is on the 14th story and you can’t beat the views.
Address: Monument Sq, Charlestown, MA 02129
Cost: Free, but get your tickets from the visitor’s center beforehand.
Yay for history! If you visit the Bunker Hill Monument you can skip the Stairmaster for the day, because in order to reach the top you have to climb 294 steps. However, once you reach the top you will forget about the climb because the view is incredible. Afterward, check out the museum across the street and feed your brain some knowledge.
Address: Spans from Beacon Hill to Kendall Square.
Cost: Free, duh, it’s a bridge.
Take a stroll across the Longfellow bridge to get a perfect panoramic view of the city. She bridge is gorgeous itself and it is situated over the Charles River.
Address: 68 Munroe St, Somerville, MA 02143
Cost: Free.
Tucked away in a residential area of Sommerville, the Prospect Hill Tower is also full of history. You can hang out and have a picnic on the lawn while admiring Boston’s beautiful skyline. If you go on New Years Day, there is even a reenactment ceremony and you can go to the top of the tower.
Address: 33 Sumner St, Boston, MA 02128
Cost: I think we’re noticing a pattern here.
LoPresti Park is great because not only does it offer great skyline views of the city, but it also has basketball courts, street hockey rink, lawn, playgrounds, and more. It is four acres and located right on the waterfront.
Address: 1 Museum Of Science Driveway, Boston, MA 02114
Cost: Free astronomy viewing!
At the Gilliland Observatory on the parking garage rooftop of the Museum of Science, you can stare up at the stars, planets, moon, and whatever else is up there in that great big galaxy. You’re just in time, it is open April 13-October 26 on Friday nights, and July 5-August 30 on Thursday nights. Check out their website for exact times.
Address: Deer Island, Boston, MA 02152
Cost: Free parking.
Part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, Deer Island is for people who enjoy the outdoors. It is connected to the city despite its name and as you can see above parking is free at the tip of Winthrop. It is a 2.6-mile loop which sounds like a great activity on a beautiful spring or summer day. Oh, and this goes without saying, but it also has great views of the skyline.
Address: 800 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02199
Cost: Between $10-17.
This is one of the more popular options if you are looking to see great views of Boston, so I wanted to include it in this list, however, it is on the pricier side comparatively. This is definitely an iconic view, so if you are looking to get the best pictures hit up the Pru.
Address: 3 McKinley Square, Boston, MA 02109
Cost: Between $0-5 depending.
Instead of paying $16 dollars at the Prudential Observatory to see incredible views of the city, try the Marriott’s Custom House Observation Deck on the 26th floor for significantly less. The catch is that you have to arrive at 2 pm and it is not open on Friday’s.
Address: 725 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215
Cost: Free Wednesday evenings.
If you are looking to stargaze and get great views of the city at night, but aren’t free Thursday or Friday nights, you can try the Judson B. Coit Observatory at Boston University. This is definitely a hidden gem that you cannot miss out on seeing.
