Here’s Where To Go For Houston Crawfish Season

March is known for many things; Spring Break, college basketball, and in Houston, the beginning of crawfish season. If you’re not from the Gulf region (think Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi), you might be thrown off by these mini lobster lookalikes, but trust me, crawfish is not only delicious, it’s an event unto itself. Here are some of the best places to go for the Houston Crawfish season.

Crawfish and Noodles

This place needs no introduction. Crawfish and Noodles, owned by 2018 James Beard Semifinalist, Trong Nguyen was most recently featured on Netflix’s Ugly Delicious and combines Cajun-style crawfish with a variety of Vietnamese dishes. There is only one style of crawfish here: spicy and covered in extra butter and garlic. You’ll have to venture outside the Loop to Bellaire for this one, but it is well worth the drive.

Sam’s Boat

Sam’s Boat offers a more traditional Cajun style crawfish (think spice in the boil, not on top), so, if you’re a crawfish purist, Sam’s Boat is the place for you. The original Sam’s Boat is located in the Galleria area, but there are now locations all over Greater Houston. Grab a beer to wash down the spice from the crawfish, and you’ve got yourself an afternoon.

LA Crawfish

LA Crawfish takes VietCajun to the next level; and with locations all over Houston, you can’t beat it. They offer three flavors of crawfish: garlic butter, Cajun, and hot & sour. Also, if you’re not in a peeling mood, go for their Crawfish Pho!

Bayou City Seafood & Pasta

Like a scene from Forest Gump, Bayou City Seafood & Pasta has crawfish every way you can imagine. They have boiled crawfish, fried crawfish, crawfish bisque, crawfish etouffee, crawfish…. you get the point. Located just outside the Loop on Richmond, this place is a must. Go Sunday for their All Day Happy Hour and enjoy some boiled crawfish and margaritas!

Boil House

Located on 11th Street in the Heights, Boil House is the no-nonsense crawfish you know and love. Reminiscent of backyard boil (think patio tables, corn, and potatoes), Boil House recognizes the beauty of simple crawfish done right. Boil House is BYOB, so grab a six pack for the trip!
