Here’s The Best Charcoal Mask According To Your Skin Type

Everyone loves a little pamper and a charcoal face mask is a good place to start. Charcoal is trending in the beauty world and is the best thing you can find on the market. Give yourself a little break from your busy everyday life, run a bubble bath and put your face mask on. Give yourself and your skin a little TLC.

The benefits of charcoal are amazing. They control the oil balance in your skin, draw out bacteria, toxins, dirt and help to get rid of dead skin cells. Face masks do not have to be expensive and you don’t have to shop around thanks to this helpful guide.

Everyone’s skin is different so what will work for you may not work for someone else. Your skin will fall into a category: oily, combination, sensitive, dry or normal/balanced. There are many different ways you can find out your skin type, normally by measuring the sebum levels or hydration levels in the skin. But sometimes you can tell, and if you can, this guide is for you.

Oily skin

You know you have oily skin if your face looks constantly shiny. It is just a matter of your skin producing too much oil in your skin that it is causing it to sit on the surface. Breakouts are more likely if you have oily skin as it is a good host for dead skin cells. A lot of the time when going through puberty you can get really oily skin. The key to managing oily skin is charcoal.

Balance out the oil in your skin with this face mask from The Body Shop. The Himalayan Charcoal Mask redefines pores and balances the oils produced in your face. It has clumps of charcoal in it to gently exfoliate and drys to give you a real spa experience. It also contains tea tree essence so it will control your breakouts. It is also 100% vegan!

Combination

You have combination skin if your skin is both oily and dry at the same time. You could have some dry patches and some shiny, or feel like you have both. A charcoal mask will help to re-balance your oil levels in your skin while nourishing your dry bits.

This mask from Paula’s Choice is a white coloured mask which will absorb oil, reduce pores and balance oily skin with regular use. It contains natural mineral clays to give you a clear complexion. It also contains properties to soothe and make your skin soft and mattified.

Sensitive

Normally a skincare expert would not recommend using charcoal on sensitive skin, but with the popularity of sheet masks on the rise it is getting easier for someone with sensitive skin to reduce the size of their pores and control the oil levels in their skin. Sheet masks are brilliant for a quick pamper and a light pamper. You can find a lot of them really cheap in cosmetic stores.

The Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask provides a cooling effect to calm sore, irritated or inflamed skin. It contains bamboo charcoal which is good for sensitive skin and contains cooling ingredients to lower the skin’s temperature. It is said to brighten the skin and is layered with the charcoal so your skin benefits from all aspects and ingredients of the mask.

Dry

If you have dry skin, charcoal won’t be the best for you. Because it absorbs all the excess oil, it will make your skin even drier. However, this is not to say that you don’t suffer with an oily t-zone. If this is the case, you can either just put a mask in the areas you need it, or do that along with a different mask in the areas that are really dry.

Clear improvement brought out a face mask that answers everyone who has dry skins prayers. Normal/balanced

Having normal/balanced skin is an amazing gift sent down from god. You can use any of the masks above and still receive the same benefits. You don’t have an overly dry or overly oily complexion and you are not sensitive to most products.

L’Oreal’s Pure Clay Detox mask is an amazing charcoal mask for normal skin. The detox mask has 3 clays in it plus charcoal to give you a spa experience while pore cleansing and cleaning the skin. It acts as a magnet to detoxify the skin leaving it feeling clarified and smooth without drying it out.
