When you’re on the move in the fall, sometimes you don’t always get the proper meal intake you should. This leads to late-night snacking, which is often more on chips and ice cream, instead of fruits and vegetables. Therefore to prevent such hunger pangs, you’re going to need some dishes that leave you feeling full for hours to follow. Here are 10 hearty fall meals that will leave you with a full belly
Nothing says fall like a turkey dinner! This is one of my favorite meals and there is no need to wait until Thanksgiving when you can eat all of your favorite fall fixings this instant. Whether it’s the stuffing or the gravy covered potatoes that make your mouth water, you’ll certainly be having seconds. The best part of this dish is the leftovers. You can even make your own Thanksgiving subs the next day!
Perfectly breaded pork chops with a little apple sauce, rice, and a vegetable make for a great fall dish. You will feel full after consuming this meal and feel healthy after, as pork is a healthier alternative for meat. The key to making this meal success falls in your seasoning of the pork chops but fortunately, there are plenty of premade mixes for those of us who aren’t master chefs.
This meal is very good for you as it is low in calories and high in protein. It also is not too difficult to make and doesn’t take very long, which is good because we all know how busy the fall gets. The only thing that could go wrong with this dish would be the chicken tasting too bland. Therefore, you’re going to want to make sure you season adequately ahead of time. I suggest the mixing of garlic, onion powder with a little black pepper and some sea salt.
This is probably one of the easiest dinners out there and is perfect for a weekly dish this fall to leave you feeling full. It only takes about a total of twenty minutes to prepare this dish and the cleanup is relatively easy. Also, it’s pretty cost-effective, which is something that is a huge factor that goes into nightly meals for college students living on their own. You can either go really simple and just do pasta with some tomato or alfredo sauce or add in some grilled chicken if you want something a little more substantial.
Salmon is not only a power fish in terms of its nutritious values, but it’s also one of the only types of seafood you can eat year-round knowing it will still be consistent in taste. The key to making the dish perfect is the seasoning ahead of time. I’m a fan of a little orange juice and brown sugar, with cappers on top for added flavor. For sides, I recommend green beans and red potatoes or brown rice.
Beef stew on a chilly day will give you a blend of some of the best fall foods all in one place. You’re going to need time for any stew, so I’d recommend on a rainy day, where you don’t mind hanging inside all day to check up on how your dish is looking. Once done the time is certainly worth the wait as you will be left with leftovers for days. Talk about a meal that keeps on giving!
Shepard’s pie gives you a dose of almost all your basic food groups, without any sides needed. With a combination of fl0ur, potato, beef, corn, peas, and carrots, the dish is plenty hearty to leave you feeling full after. To top the dish off you can add some gravy if you’d like or some parsley!
Nothing makes you feel better when you’re sick than a little chicken noodle soup. But you may find that some of the canned varieties at the store are not to your liking. So in order to get exactly what you want, you’re going to want to make your own. With a combination of freshly boiled chicken, broth, steamed carrots, broccoli, and noodles, you’ll have a soup that will keep you coming back for more!
Pulled pork sliders are the perfect burger replacement when you’re moving into the fall months. Instead of having a burger fresh off the grill, replace the hamburger meat with some barbecue pulled pork. To add in more flavor and variation you can even add in some coleslaw on top. A good side with this dish would be some crisp sweet potato fries.
A simple and easy meal that is sure to warm you up on a cold day. Taco night is easy and allows you to pick and choose exactly the dish you want to have, including all the fillings. And if you pick healthier taco shells and go for chicken or a meatless alternative style, the dish is not too high in calories. So get that shredded cheese, lettuce, refried beans and eat up!
