10 Healthy Smoothie Bowl Recipes You’re Going To Love

Smoothie bowls make for an easy and yummy breakfast that will actually give you loads of energy for the day. What I love most about them is how there are no rules or limits when it comes to the ingredients and toppings! You can get as creative as you’d like. They’re also an easy way to get your veggies in. Just add in some spinach or kale to the mix and you’re good to go.

They can be good sources of fiber, protein, healthy carbohydrates and fats. In having these qualities, they make for a perfect post-workout meal!

1. Tropical Dragon Fruit

First and foremost, my favorite smoothie bowl of all time. It’s colorful and vibrant, tasty and fresh, and packed with all the healthy goods you could want (and need) for breakfast. Pitaya, or dragon fruit, has loads of benefits too. It’s rich in fiber, helps to strengthen your immune system, contains nutrients like magnesium, vitamin C, and potassium, and can help fight chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Since you might be new to the smoothie bowl game and adding dragon fruit to your diet, there’s so many reasons to get excited about trying this recipe! Besides dragon fruit, it calls for coconut water, pineapple, mango chunks, and banana. You can top it off with a drizzle of honey, more pinneaple or mango chunks, chia seeds, coconut flakes, anything you can think of, just add it right in.

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

For all the chocolate peanut butter lovers out there, I got you covered. Be prepared to eat a superfood smoothie bowl that screams Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! It’s filling, gluten-free, and vegan. The base of the bowl is frozen bananas, which will ensure that the consistency is creamy and smooth with that perfect touch of sweetness. Even though chocolate and peanut butter are what you’re going to taste the most of, the bowl is secretly full of superfood powders. There’s collagen, maca powder, and chia seeds!

When it comes to toppings, feel free to add more banana (cut up), peanut butter, and maybe even a little chocolate drizzle.

3. Blueberry Banana

If you’ve never tried blueberries and bananas together before, then now’s your chance. This blueberry banana smoothie bowl mocks the creaminess of frozen yogurt without all the unnecessary sugar and calories. It has coconut cream in it, frozen banana and coconut water, bee pollen, and once again maca powder. Tasting this simply delicious smoothie bowl will have you asking yourself why you never thought about creating it yourself in the first place.

4. Raspberry Coconut

Just like the dragon fruit bowl mentioned earlier, this raspberry coconut one is colorful and vibrant. It’s also totally Instagram worthy! Before dissecting the bowl ingredients, you should know what makes raspberries so amazing. Not only are they tasty, they’re high in fiber, low in calories and sugar, can help sharpen your memory, promote a healthy heart, and are an excellent source of vitamin C.

All this recipe calls for are frozen raspberries, frozen banana, coconut milk (substitute with almond milk if you’re not a fan), chia seeds, and then your optional add-ons of course.

5. Chocolate Covered Strawberry

Chocolate-covered strawberries are without a doubt my favorite dessert. They’re sweet, crunchy, and of course chocolatey. Why not make that into a healthy smoothie bowl? Besides, the ingredient list is rather simple. All you need are frozen strawberries, chocolate almond milk, cocoa powder, some chocolate protein powder, cacao nibs and fresh strawberries for toppings (optional), and granola.

6. Rainbow Berry

Bring on all the berries. Brought to you by Wallflower Kitchen, this rainbow berry bowl is a breakfast dream. It’s got mixed berries in it, banana, almond milk, and chia seeds. It’s perfectly refreshing for a hot summer day if you need a cool down, but smoothie bowls can be made during any season. Obviously toppings are optional, but some yummy ones include grapes, raspberries, shredded coconut and granola.

7. Nourishing Blue

Another Instagram worthy smoothie bowl, you say? You’re probably wondering how this one gets so blue and the answer is blue spirulina! Spirulina is incredibly nutritious. It lowers blood pressure, can help boost your immune system, and is basically a powerhouse of nutrients including iron, magnesium, potassium, vitamins B1, 2 and 3. Other than this, the recipe calls for frozen bananas, pineapples, and peaches!

8. Peanut Butter and Jelly

This smoothie features the nostalgic combination of peanut butter and jelly! It might sound kind of weird at first but no knocking it until you’ve try it. The cool thing about this bowl is that it uses a raspberry-chia jam that is interestingly tart yet sweet. For toppings, you can go crazy with shards of dark chocolate, shredded coconut, sliced bananas, and fresh raspberries.

9. Green Smoothie Bowl

It’s time for the greeeens! This green smoothie bowl has loads of spinach, a little bit of banana, your milk of choice (almond, oat, coconut, etc), and drumroll please…avocado! It’s the secret ingredient.  If you know you’re not a big avocado fan, then I have some good news for you. Avocado tastes great alone, but when paired with other ingredients in a smoothie bowl like such, you can barely even taste it. So, in reality, you’re reaping up all the benefits of the avocado while getting a thick, perfectly creamy smoothie bowl at the same time.

10. Very Berry Cherry

Last but not least, the very berry cherry smoothie bowl. Cherry, banana, vanilla almond milk, fresh berries, does it get any better than that? Like most of the other smoothie bowls listed, you use frozen fruit as the base. In this case, you’ll be using frozen cherries and a frozen banana. If super thick and creamy smoothies aren’t really your thing, add some more almond milk than directed. Top it off with fresh cherries, berries, and whatever other garnishes your heart desires.
