Healthy Habits To Improve Your Mental Stability

To many, mental stability is hard to achieve and accomplish. Many obstacles in life can deter you from having mental stability, and this can be in multiple ways such as; your job, school, home, family members, and even yourself.  It is important to realize that a healthy mind equals a healthy body, and a healthy body equals more accomplishments, which can overall better your health, and in the end benefit your mental stability.

Mental health is something that should be taken more seriously because as we know, suicide is very common, very real, can happen in those you least expect it to, and one of the leading causes of deaths in the United States.

Sustaining your mental health can be different depending on the individual, and we must realize that, unfortunately, it can be quite hard to maintain mental stability due to one’s chemical inbalance of the individual’s brain, and due to genetics. However, this should not dampen your mood because there are ways to help combat it.

What Does Mental Stability Look Like?

For each individual in society, mental stability can look different. There is no exact way to view mental stability because how you choose it should look depends entirely on you, but those who are considered to be mentally stable  tend to have multiple traits in common.

To some, mental stability can be control. You may ask, what do you mean by control? Well, not everyone has control over their thoughts and actions, and this is more common then most would assume it is. To be able to have a sense of control over your feelings and actions can promote an abundance of mental stability especially if you grew up in a certain environment or is currently surrounded by others that don’t allow you to do so.

Another key point in mental stability is having a nurturing and supporting relationships within your lives. Without stability you have chaos, and chaos is the last thing you need if you are trying to combat mental instability. A supporting and nurturing family means strong connections, positive communications, and uniformity. To be able to have this means that there will always be someone out there wanting the best for you in all possible ways, and will stick beside you through thick and thin. For some who aren’t able to have mental stability often think that they have no one to be there for them and for some this may be true and can make things worse. Whether you realize it or not, to be able to have someone there for you will always be better. Yes, having yourself, or learning to rely on yourself may be good, but it is not better. It is always nice to be able to rely on others, especially family and friends, because what is the point of them being there for you if you are not able to do so, especially at a time of vulnerability.

Other Ways To Help Mental Stability

As stated earlier, there are plenty of other ways to view mental stability. Being mentally stable can be as simple as enjoying a hobby that fulfills you. If you love the flowers, and gardens, starting one yourself can help. To some, being able to grow something from a tiny seed, and watching I grow week by week, and month by month is enough for them, or you can try journaling. Being able to write down your thoughts and feelings using a pen and a piece of paper is known for helping others that are not capable of opening up to others. A sense of well-being, and this can be in prosperity, health and happiness, and most importantly being able to have a set of coping skills that can help you during troubling times.

How To Help Others

In order to help others that are fighting mental instability, you must make sure that that is what it truly is. There are a few ways to distinguish this:

  • Relying addictive substances
  • Increased/decreased appetite or ED (Eating disorders)
  • Excessive worrying
  • Concentration problems
  • Easily irritable

Yes, there are many more, but these are the most common. It is also important to realize that not everyone is ready to admit that they need help, or have a problem. Since this is a very delicate subject you must approach it as such. Depending on the person you are trying to help, unfortunately helping may actually make things worse. If you truly do care, and want to help, you need to be very patient, and keep reminding yourself when you start to get frustrated that you are genuinely doing your best.
