10 Healthy Frozen Foods You Should Always Have In Your Freezer
Let’s stop eating out. When you are feeling lazy or organic food doesn’t fit your budget, look to these. I LOVE a good farmers market and fresh veggies, however, studies suggest frozen veggies have just as many nutrients as their fresh counterparts. Here are 10 healthy frozen foods you should always have in your freezer.
1. Green beans
Want more phytonutrients? Green beans defeat osteoporosis because they are rich in silicon.
2. Broccoli
3. Cauliflower
Help your colon and bladder by eating cauliflower. Replace carbs like rice with it as a great alternative.
4. Peas
Weight management and stomach cancer prevention, it makes up for their horrible taste. Sorry, I hate peas. While growing up my dad made chicken noodle soup once with peas and not even my dog would eat it. She ate around the peas.
5. Edamame
Yes, it is a legume, however tomatoes are a fruit so who’s calling the shots here? So high in protein and healthy fats you MUST keep this in your freezer.
6. Spinach
Iron, calcium, and lasts longer than fresh spinach. Also- it is easier to cook with (I love adding spinach to pasta dishes).
7. Vegetable Medley
Want to have your cake and eat it too? Get a veggie medley and add some meat. Peppers, onions, carrots and broccoli florets, what more can you ask for?
8. Brussel Sprouts
Rich in so many nutrients, I like to cook them with olive oil, salt, pepper, and feta. Folate, manganese, vitamin B6, dietary fiber, choline, copper, vitamin B1, potassium, phosphorus and omega-3 fatty acids are all in Brussel Sprouts. You can’t skip these.
9. Squash
Another cancer-fighting veg, squash is one of the healthiest veggies. Summer squash, spaghetti squash, butternut, it is so versatile.
10. Corn
Corn is healthier three days after harvesting, making it perfect to keep in your freezer.
