Chickpea pasta, which you can usually find at any grocery store, has way more protein and less sugar than regular white pasta. I love Banza Chickpea Pasta because you can cook it like regular pasta but it’ll be a much healthier option. I like to pair it with some mushrooms and red pasta sauce or balsamic glaze. You can even add in some chicken or steak with the pasta for more protein. It’s delicious and healthy so you won’t feel bad about eating pasta.
You can make your own sweet potato fries at home, or buy them. It may take at least 30-40 minutes in the oven but Sweet Potato can be a great option to combat any carb cravings. I use it in place of rice mostly along with chicken or steak. I’ll even have a sweet potato with my easy side up eggs and sprinkle some mozzarella cheese which is great for melting. Sweet potato can be the absolute best in replacing toast, white potatoes, white rice or french fries.
If you have a craving for something crunchy like toast or chips I always opt for rice cakes instead! My favorite that I have lived for for the past couple of years is the Lundberg Rice Cakes. They have several different types and I usually get the ones that are a bit salty. That way when you’re craving chips, the rice cakes will do the job for you. They’re gluten-free as well and are pretty yummy so you won’t be missing out on those lovely chips. They make for a great snack or can be used in place for avocado toast. I usually make a breakfast out of it with avocado, maybe some bacon and two easy side up eggs over the rice cakes. But for a snack, I’ll usually use the rice cakes as a snack to dip into hummus.
This one has been my new favorite. You can get either romaine lettuce not chopped up or you can get Boston Bibb lettuce. You can turn them into little ‘boats’ and put cut up chicken in them, burger and then put little add ons you may please to make it even better than a sandwich would be. It’s also a great way to add in more vegetables if you’ve been a little low on them. I usually put cut up chicken on my boats with hummus spread, feta, and balsamic glaze. That is a great combination you won’t want to miss out on.
