People who say sex is underrated haven’t done it right. Sex is life’s greatest pleasure. So is cheese and chocolate though. Don’t you love binging on the other two while you’re menstruating? Then what makes you think to have sex on your period could be gross!? It’s not and it’s so much more intimate and fun.
However, taking stuff in at the same time when you’re throwing stuff out could get a little messy. While I’d still want to say the mess is enjoyable, not everyone might feel the same. Hence, there are a few things you should keep in mind while having sex on your period that would make the experience pleasurable for both you and your partner.
Periods are such an uncomfortable time for us ladies. Mostly, our partners understand the reason behind ugly mood swings and cryptic demands. Similarly, before you and your partner get on to having sex while you’re bleeding, tell him how you feel about it. Tell him what areas you want him to be gentle around or what position makes you uncomfortable. You can always try different forms and surprise each other!
Your partner is into this mess just as much. So, make sure you ask him how he feels about it too. There are numerous benefits of having sex on your period, lesser menstrual cramps are just one, but that does not mean your partner should have to do it for you.
If it bothers you so much, there are some ways with which you can actually minimize the mess. Wearing condom is the most common way. Both you and your partner can wear a normal condom during the intercourse and it will make having sex on your period less squeamish. Also, doing it in missionary position would also limit the blood flow (you may thank gravity for that). Lastly, do it on the first or last day of your cycle, whenever you know the bleeding will be less. This way, you can enjoy the perks of period sex without worrying too much about the muddle.
Unless trying to conceive, never forget your protection. Even when having sex on your period. Most people have this misconception that they won’t get pregnant. Scientifically speaking, the chances are extremely low, since you’re not ovulating then but your man’s sperm stays inside your body for up to seven days. So, if you end up having a shorter cycle and ovulate sooner than normal, you might end up conceiving.
For the record, your bed won’t look like a murder scene after the sex. Because you’re not going to bleed so much, that’s not normal. Although, I’d still recommend you have a towel underneath or handy so that you don’t worry too much about the stains and concentrate on enjoying the pleasure.
If you know what having sex on your period is like, then you’ll agree with me and if you’re still reluctant to try, you gotta get over it give it a shot (or take a shot!) There are tons of benefits and not even a single side effect of doing period sex. First up, you get the perfect lubrication. Blood and other fluids make the intercourse super smooth. Secondly, orgasms cure cramps. Reaching the climax relaxes the uterus, increases blood flow and releases endorphins which immediately improves your mood.
Honestly, that’s my personal hack. I love having period sex. But I love it only in the shower. It just prevents the mess and I never have to worry about cleaning anything. The fact that it’s super intimate and arousing, just makes everything 100 times better.
Period sex is awesome. Period.
