Have face scars? Here are some tips and tricks!

I don’t know about you, but face acne scars are one the top things that I am self-conscious about. Many people get acne, but if you’re anything like me, sometimes I will pick and pop pimples, blackheads and whiteheads when they appear on my face. Yes, I know that you are not supposed to do that, but unfortunately I can’t help it and truthfully I think we all do it. I’ve been doing since I was young and in result of that, it has given many many acne scars that I still see a decade later. Quite frankly, although I do not like my acne scars (lets be real, no one does), I slowly come to accept that they are a part of who I am and what I look like. They are what make me… me. Over the years, I have found a few ways which I will share with you on how I hide them when I just can’t bear to look at them anymore. Face scar tips to the rescue!

Retinol

Retinol, also known as vitamin A, is my number one face acne tip when it comes to the disappearance of scars. I have been using this ointment for about three years and have noticed a HUGE difference in not only my scars, but how my skin looks and feels like as well. It’s soft, is brighter and it’s also less oily. Before you use a retinol cream, I do (for all products) highly recommend consulting with your doctor or dermatologist before using. All skin types are different and there are a variety of retinols that are used for different acne issues, even if it just scars. The one I use is provided directly from my dermatologist, but you can find them at almost any pharmacy that is located near you. One retinol cream that many of my friends is called CeraVe Retinol Serum. You can purchase it on Amazon and it’s only $16.34.

Microneedling

Another one of the many face scar tips that are in the world? Microneedling. The word may sound intimidating, but I promise you that it is not as scary as it may seem. This procedure is done by your dermatologist at their office and it involves pricking the skin with incredibly small, sterilized needles. It’s meant to treat acne face scars, wrinkles and make for a smoother and firmer toned skin instead of putting chemicals on your face. I personally have not tried microneedling, but my dermatologist highly recommended it at my last visit. If needles are not for you, then that’s okay as there are many other options to get those acne scars to disappear.

Prevention is key

As I said previously, I am one of those people who picks at their skin the second I notice a pimple or blackhead. I truly cannot help it although I know that it is a terrible thing to do. That is why prevention is key. Do you not want face acne scars? Try you’re best to not pick at your acne when it suddenly arrives when you wake up the first thing in the morning. Make sure to moisturize your skin, use sunscreen when you’re outside in the sun and wash your face by using cleansers. The face wash that I use is called Vanicream. It’s a gentle facial cleanser WITH a pump dispenser. It’s also for those with sensitive skin which is something I have. You can get it on Amazon for only $8.42. If you purchase this and it doesn’t work for you, do not fret as you can find many facial cleansers at any pharmacy or local store like Walmart.

There is also a product called SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic. It’s a combination antioxidant treatment containing L-Ascorbic Acid, Alpha Tocopherol and Ferulic Acid which will help darken those face acne scars that you so desperately do not want to see anymore. This item is on the pricier side ($166.00) so be wary, but it is one that I have heard wonderful reviews about from close friends of mine. They also put this is their top three face scar tips!

Vitamin C

It wasn’t until I started to have yearly and regular appointments with my dermatologist that I learned about Vitamin C. Many people, when they hear that word, only think of it as a vitamin you take to stay healthy, but there is more to this vitamin than people think. There are many scientific studies that prove Vitamin C helps fade those acne scars within a long period of time with consistency in use. The serum that I have been using for about a year is called Olehenriksen Truth. It’s a Banana Bright Eye Crème, Vitamin C and collagen boosted. This product is $40 from Sephora. I try to use these products every day to keep up with a face routine and tell all of my friends when they come to me for face scar tips!

Natural ways

During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, I found a love of finding all things natural, especially if it were something that I could potentially put on my body or face and it could help in numerous ways. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to put a serum, cream or needles on your face, then look into coconut, honey, lemon juice or aloe vera to help darken those face acne scars in a healthier way. There is also the use of apple cider vinegar, lavender essential oils and vitamin e that you can use as well. But the number one natural way to help with face acne scars/acne in general? Drink water. This is key because it keeps your body and face hydrated. Now if you’re someone who is not great at drinking a good amount of water each day, there are now apps on your cell-phones and you can now set timers in case you forget to keep hydrated.

Do you suffer from face acne scars? What are some face scar tips that you would recommend to those you know? Have you used any of the natural remedies that are listed above? If so, tell us below in the comments and tell us if they worked for you and you would put them in your face scar tips!
