Handbags You Need To Channel Your Best 2000s Self

Anyone who’s into fashion knows that the early 200’s are back baby! We’re talking Paris Hilton, juicy sweatsuits and Justin and Brittany matching jean outfits. It’s an era that was over the top and excessive but we love it! The fashion from that time was either genius or hideous. If you’re like us, then you were too young to know the joys of proudly displaying your whale tail above your low rise jeans. Well look who’s all grown up! Now we can participate by wearing Von Dutch hats (Do they still exist?) and being covered in rhinestones.

Some of the most iconic pieces of looks from the 2000s were the handbags. I mean, who could forget that classic rainbow Louis Vuitton monogram bag? Or the sack bags that were covered in sequins? Ah, it was a simpler time then. Lucky for us, 2000s fashion has made it’s way back into our hearts and closets. Take out that credit card, honey because this article is going to make you spend like it’s 1999! Here are the best handbags you need to channel your best 2000s self.

Dior Saddle Purse

When we saw this purse come down the runway, we did a double take. The Dior font on the back is perfectly reminiscent of the Coach wristlets we all knew and loved way back when. We love that this is bag is unique in that one side is longer than the other. It’s a bit of a steep price but it’s worth the money when you take into account the quality and sheer popularity the bag has! The handbag can be seen worn by celebrities and popular bloggers alike. This is a bag that everyone loves! It’s definitely giving us welcomed nostalgia as we’ve missed it since it’s original release in 2001.

Velour to Velvet

Remember those velour bucket handbags we all had from Juicy Couture? Well they’re kind of back but in a way you may not have recognised. The early 2000’s was all about the big name brand designers and having said designers name plastered onto the front of every item. In the early 2000’s it was Juicy’s embroidered logo. Now, its Gucci’s metal logo on their velvet purses. We started from velour and now we’re here! Velvet is the new velour and big designer brands are still putting their logo onto everything. It’s like everything’s changed yet nothing has changed at all.

Peace and Love

Not all handbags from the 2000s were glamorous. We talked about the sack bag earlier in this article. Well it’s back too! We’ve grown from sack bags to reusable bags, we were adorable little hippies. Have you seen the sack handbags nowadays? They’re so cute! Take a look at the one below. We bet you’ve seen these before but never realised why it looked so familiar. We used to wear these but they were covered in sequins (no, we don’t want the sequins back thank you.). We see this bag on the shoulder of every fashionable plant mom that religiously shops at whole foods. We love that vibe.

Hold on Tight!

There’s always one accessory from every era that makes you look back and think “WTF?”. That’s how we feel about the seatbelt bag. For some odd reason, seatbelts were the hottest material to use when it came to handbags. Who? Why? How? And then why again. But what’s done is done. Some people loved them, others despised them. Seatbelt material is once again being included into handbags! With practical gadgets being incorporated into streetwear, we can see how this bag could start trending again. Think about how chain belts, heavy duty clasps, and actual seat belt buckles have been trapped across the body of every internet girl lately. We won’t be surprised when the seatbelt bags make a comeback.

A Lovechild

Close your eyes. Imagine what it would look like if the early 2000s and 2019 had a baby. Well it might look something like the handbag below! One of the most coveted brands from the early 2000’s was Juicy couture. Their tracksuits were famous and worn by celebrities in formal and not so formal settings. Their pouchy bags were iconic and big enough to hold at least 25 Razor cellphones. In 2019, one of the hottest types of handbags trending right now is the fanny pack. It’s a 90’s throwback, we know, but stay focused! This Juicy Couture handbag is everything you want from then and now.

We See Right Through You

If you scroll down to the next handbag and don’t scream out of joy, were you really a 2000s kid? The next bag is the best of the best. The creme de la creme. The top tier of a 2000s handbag cake. The clear bag. If you had a clear bag in the 2000s you were the coolest kid in school! Bonus points if you had a clear backpack with Lisa Frank stickers covering it. (If you love Betsey Johnson now, you definitely loved Lisa Frank back then.) Back in the early 2000s, we looked up to Lisa Frank  like she was a god. Lisa Frank never went out of style but there was a brief period of time where she went under the radar. After the Lisa Frank craze in the early 2000s, we are just now seeing her rise again to her ultimate greatness to bestow the ultimate rainbow fantasy accessories we deserve!
