The Guide to Being Single at USD

Are you fresh out of that long high school relationship you were in? Are you looking for love in your newfound college home? Or are you a single who’s tired of seeing all gushy romance at every single turn? The students that go to the University of San Diego are like the campus itself; downright beautiful. With that said romance in college is inevitable but fear not, I am here to help. Here are five ways awesome ways to live life to the fullest while being single at USD.

1. Stay fit, stay healthy, stay happy.

In college it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, both mentally and physically. At USD, you’ve got the Mission Fitness Center, the Jenny Craig Pavilion, and the Rec Center (next to the Vistas and the pool). And hey, you’re in San Diego! One of the most beautiful cities in the world where the sun is always shining, so why not take up a new activity like bike riding or surfing. But no matter how you stay fit, it will keep you happy and on your feet!

2. Go out on the weekends.

Along with the perfect weather, San Diego has an awesome nightlife. There’s nothing better than after a long week of studying and work, to go out with your friends or roommates to a club in the Gaslamp quarter, and it’s the perfect way to kick off a weekend. But don’t get too crazy kiddo.

3. …Or chill out on campus.

If you’re not into the whole partying/clubbing scene, there’s nothing wrong with spending your nights or weekends on campus! The Torero Program Board (TPB) likes to throw a lot of events throughout the year like movie nights and poetry slams. Also there is also nothing wrong with staying in and watching Netflix all evening. It also makes for a good time.

4. Be free.

One of the greatest benefits of being single is your freedom. You can do whatever you want so why not treat yourself? Splurge on an awesome breakfast at La Paloma, or grab your favorite snacks from Tu Merc. Maybe even go off campus and explore the city. The possibilities are endless when you’re single at USD.

5. Join a club or organization.

College is a time for exploration and change, so why not discover yourself by joining some clubs and activities on campus! Clubs like Greek life, Student Ambassadors, and USDTv or Sports teams like rugby, running, or even innertube water polo are an excellent way to get involved on campus and meet new people. Can’t find a club you’re in to? Start one of your own! It can’t hurt.

Who knows, maybe after following this guide to being single at USD, along the way you’ll find that someone!
